After all the sht thats happened with my car recently I decided to have a look at it myself.

Unplugged the MAF and took it out for a drive and the boost is back, I double checked all hoses and fitments and they were fine. Anyway plugged the MAF back in and the car still has boost?

I havant had a chance to drive for a decent while with it plugged back in, just a quick 5 mins. If the MAF was faulty, if I plugged it back in again would it die straight away or take a little time?

yeah it would seem like its more than likely the maf, time for vagcom to confirm though

Hopefully will get it vagcom'd on saturday.

Do you know if the MAF would work as normal even if its faulty? I plugged it back in again and it drove fine although i was only in it 5 mins.

Would it take a while for it to fail again or would it die instantly?

not sure dude, when you unplug the maf, the ECU uses 'safe' values, so when you plugged it back in it might still be running those values for a while until it adapts and starts to run **** again

or it could just be coincidence and the maf is fine ;)

It sounds like a similar problem I had last year. I would disconnect maf and all wouyld be ok, then if I reconnect maf it would be fine for a while then sudenly hit limp mode and then i'd get engine light after a bit more time.

I changed my maf and coolant temp sensor and it was fixed!

p.s. do you drive on the A3 towards central in the mornings? I think I see you quite often...

Maf may need time before it log's any issues again.

I gave mine a clean with contact cleaner from maplins, seemed ok for a short while, but I replaced the Maf eventually.

ah good to know you're getting to the bottom of your problems mate (even if it is slow progress)

Hopefully your car will be back up and running like it should soon!
