My new wheels are fitted.......

Many thanks to Ice Maiden who kindly sold me this great set of wheels this weekend. They are Seat Leon Cupra R alloys, powdered coated with polyester based powders, with a coloured fleck added before a hi-gloss laquer finish.

The work was carried out by a professional powder coaters in essex www.ctc-powder-coating.co.uk

The first picture is what they are meant to look like when they are clean. All the other photos are taken when the car was dirty as you can see from the paintwork. These wheels look even better in the flesh, and look great when the sunlight bounces of them. I will post new pictures once the car is clean.

I am after some black wheel nuts now as I don't feel the plastic covers match the black paint and my wheelnuts aren't very shiny anymore.

I know how hard it is to capture black wheels in photos... but that looks seriously smart! That last photo shoes their potential the best IMO.

Thanks for all the kool comments. My standard wheels now reside on timmygti1.8t's clean golf gti.

No sooner had I took them off my car that they appeared on his. You can't blame him though they look awesome. Nice to see the wheels stay within the VAG family

Think he would want me to comment that the car looks low at the back only because the boot has four 16 " wheels in it

those wheels are really nice arent they damo, seen them in the flesh and i can vouch that the pics dont do them justice, they are totally different to anything else i have seen. I can vouch for the the company that did them to, they are really helpful, and are just down the road from me.

I looked out for you on my way home as Nicky said you were only round the corner. But didn't see you. I will be bringing the spare down to be done the same shortly by them. I think these wheels are going to get a lot of attention

I love the standard LCR wheels and would never want dofferent ones but I like been different and I think these look great and unique whilst maintaining that stock look too.

Yep cheers Damo for posting the picture, they look alot better now i have taken them off the car again when i got home and gave them a proper clean and polish, they have come up like new and are indeed are a very tidy set, you kept them away from those kerbs well, good practice for your new black wheels eh.

Was a great swap and we are all pleased, you got some unique Black Cupra R wheels, i got some tidy standard Cupra R wheels for my Golf which is oem but different without being over the top, i think they look great on Golfs, i will post up a better picture when they are back on in all there glory and the cars clean.

Did your speedo seem much out compared to what your road angel was showing on the way home given the hike from 16 to 18s?

Wouldn't want to kerb mine now since sunday I've found myself parking about a metre away from the kerb! haha

Nah no problem at all with speedo, virtually the same with 16s or 18s compared to gps speed, whilst the Gti turbo comes with 16s the tyres are massive balloons, the 18 inch wheel with smaller tyre is virtually identical in overall size to the 16s, The mk4 Golf is designed for 18s really, it just runs 16s and soft big tyres for comfort, the 25th Anniversary mk4 Golf Gti came with 18s as standard anyway(and a 16 inch spare still lol).

Surprisingly (considering they bolt straight on) i have not seen too many Golfs with Cupra wheels and i reckon its a lovely wheel, hopefully my car should stand out at shows a little better now, not trying to win any awards mind, just want it to be nice and unique but subtle too.
