I seem to be struggling to ever get above 45mpg on my standard FR TDi. Now I have even tried driving smoothly, slow, etc but still I can't seem to get the mpg up.

Is there anything I should check?

i dunno bout that one actually, i know you normally notice a small power decrease on winter stuff, but mine been running very sweet lately, must be the lower intake temps.

Basically you have to make the car work harder in hotter or colder temps, but it works nicely when the air temp is cooler, for the turbo etc.

How far are you driving it?

I only ever got 55mpg when going 40mph for 30 minutes or at 70 on a 100 mile A14 drive.

This may be the other reason, i'm not driving mine very far so it's not great!

My mpg is bad at 70mph! I get 46mpg @ 70mpg.

Sped up and got 49mpg @ 78mph, for a 40 mile trip, odd 90mph burst to overtake.

I never use the trip computer:headhurt:

I just fill up the tank and reset the mile counter.

Full tank from 350-400 miles and 1st quarter(from full to 3/4) is around 100 miles.

Mine is VERY tuned and even only town driving I'm getting a good 350 miles from a tank

Have seen 500+ on a around trip on the motorway 70-80

I've done around 150 miles of mixed driving since filling up on tuesday and the computer is saying an average of 52.5 mpg. Don't think its ever read lower than 49 when I've filled up and reset it. It only has 2800 miles on it too.

I once filled up and drove 15 miles down the motorway to Glasgow and the comp said 62.5mpg!

Mine's a 'Sport', not an FR, but driving 'normally', using the power when required etc I struggle to get 50mpg. On my daily commute (75 miles on the motorway) I just cruise at 70mph and I can get 60mpg average on the trip computer. You have to be really gentle with it to get a good economy! :)

Also do you cruise in 6th or 5th at 70?

Why don't you do as I said for the TRUE relection of mpg ;)

Fill up(Not to the top so the diesel is spilling out the cap  )

Reset you mile trip and see how many miles you have done when you need your next fill :)
