there was a big drop off in boost after 5k but was spot on through midrange, anyone have any ideas from thses logs as to why it went into limp mode

Yes, ain't custom though to 'not' allow for heatsoak.....

what did the inlet temps look like when logging?

anything past about 60C will cause the ECU to pull back, but it shouldn't limp mode it.

what about wastegate duty (118?)

did log all of them but he hit limp mod doing a high speed run the othernight as basically high revs in 5th if i meet up agasin ill log his intake temps and see if they get really hot
cheers mork

i know you always get the spike at about that rpm on a graph its a very short spike then settles perfect it weent into limp mod at high rev so wouldnt have thought that would have caused the limp
but thanx for feedback all will be helpfull

gazjones

Guest
mine does it as well with a ko3s but when ive had it logged by revo dealers they say there will be a spike where that is and they are always right might be a feature of the smaller turbo very fast spool up?

gazjones

Guest
ok will do ill meet up with him again and log the intaketemps and 118 is that wastegate duty does that check how the n75 is working

yes just to check the other things but dosent look like there is a problem as such just dont push it that hard but good excuse for a fmic lol

Gaz I did another speed run on the way home on my private track and the car pulled fine with no limp mode this time. Got to similar speeds as my first run and limp mode definately didn't initiate. I will take it steady from now on though.

The car has still got a standard panel filter but I have smoothed the airbox and fitted a bigger air intake facing backwards in the inner arch as the original.

60 degrees is actually quite high, with around 17 degrees outside with a fmic you wouldnt see much more than 30-32 degrees, less when not nailing it.

to be honest i think you would have to be running very hot as it will just wind back timing otherwise and the car will boost a little less and feel more lethargic, similar to using really bad petrol.
I think boost issues and sensor problems would cause limp mode well before intake temps, some of these cars are used in isreael, egypt, turkey etc.
