I am standing in the Seat garage admiring the new cupra with the aero kit fitted, when the sales guy tells me it is actually a reference sport with the Aero kit on.
We got chatting and they actually advise customers not to have the kit fitted to the cupra as it causes problems cutting the holes for the headlight washers.
We chat some more and he lets slip that SEAT are planning an upgrade for the CUPRA, a specific bodykit to be launched in the next 12 months.
So we will have the same situation as with the mark 1 where people buy the cupra, then they bring out one with a kit on.

Anyone else heard this?

Indeed, I'll believe it when SEAT issue a press release about it. The only revision to the Cupra that is definately imminent, is the front grille surround which is currently silver will now become ebony black.

Actually all those who have ordered their Cupra's and have build dates from earlier this week should all arrive with the black grille surround.

Those that want the black grille surround, it should be available as a part to order.

or does he mean they are planning a reference sport body kit that can be fitted to the cupra? ie to take into account the washers?
that would make sense as why have an optional body kit that you cant put on the top model.

or maybe not as i just re-read your post. a "specific body kit" mmm can take that a few ways...

We were discussing the kit for the other models. He did say there would be a specific kit JUST for the CUPRA

I was told that the aero bodykit wasn't type approved for the Cupra yet because extra strengthening would be required for the headlight washer cutout. They said that this would probably be approved within 3 months

The head of SEAT in this country just came back from a conference for SEAT Latin America dealers in Miami, USA.

Within the next 12 months, SEAT will release a series of optionals for their cars, kind of like the Audi S line set of accessories. It will probably be called the R line. No changes in engines or facelifts whatsoever -- except apparently for the black grille surround.

Regards.
