Oily substance near foot area

Hey everyone!
My Seat Leon 5F 1.6 TDI's got a problem; the carpet by the gas pedal is oily. I took off some panels and kinda figured out where it's leaking from. Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas what it could be?

Thanks!

Aleks

Hi Aleks

Coolant from the heater matrix or pipework ?

Pop a clean finger in the header tank and see if it feels the same.

Your heater matrix is behind this black rectangular panel. The green rubber looks disturbed so some one has been in there before.

The aluminum pipe feeds coolant (which is red/pink and oily) through your matrix so suspect it would be coolant on your carpet.

Have a feel around the pipes to see if you can feel any leak? There is an o-ring in each fitting which could be leaking.

Thank you, everyone. I believe it is coolant; I tasted it, and it was sweet. It is a bit oily around the pipe, but I'm unsure if I should be worried about such a small leak.

It has clearly been disturbed in the past - probably for a new heater matrix.
If you're lucky - it could be just some residue from that job? you could clean it all - and monitor in a day or two after some engine cycles (hot & cold running).

There is an oring and clamp which would be my guess - if it is weeping/leaking yes you will need to fix.
The clamp is a bit fiddly and others on here reported struggling re-fitting it. Could be just not snugged up enough? or you may need a new oring.
