Received a 3.4GB update over the air that appears to be a form of 1896. Software version A896. Main marker for me is the CLIMA at the top. The update process describes a three step process. So I think this is step one.

Still, nice that I won’t have to take it in to the Dealership to get ‘1896’. I wonder if it’s somehow 1896 ‘Lite’. Or it will go to 1896 in a later update.

That's interesting! Mine went to the main dealer for 1896 update but has recently had a few OTA updates including what I think is a big one which is downloading each time I switch on the car.

Very interesting! Mine has had several OTA updates over the last 2 weeks too. It was still on 1803 though when I took it to the dealers on 5th May. They updated it to 1896 and things are much better.

Mines appeared this afternoon so I've set it to download,I can't wait to see what the differences are when it's done.

Hoping it fixed the ACC problems that have driven me slightly mental since I for the car.

Got mine today. Interesting how you can’t use voice control during certain points of the install?

Also had a few minor updates before this one appeared.

hi, for ota updates is it necessary to have an active seat connect subscription? Are updates made via eSim or wifi connection from mobile phone or by other method? Thanks.

Downloaded the 3.4GB and when parked up at a restaurant for a meal the display told me to switch off the engine and lock the car for the update to install. After the meal I first noticed "Clima"...and its 1st update to A896. The intro (tuition screen) gave some pointers but I don't know if its any different to 1804. It did show you can slide the screen temperature on the infotainment screen, not sure if it did that before.

It seems to have worked via the eSim. I have the Connect subscription, albeit free for the first year. Don’t think I would pay for it afterwards.

Mine updated OK today, now have CLIMA at the top of the screen. Interested to see what it’s fixed, a few menus and screens have changed. It still re-SYNCs the driver and passenger temperatures however, grrrr.

There is a part 2 now released which is around 1.7GB - I actually haven't noticed anything apart from "CLIMA" and the voice changed to a male. I was hoping to have the "purple" for the light bar, but that isn't the case. Does anyone know what the update supposedly does? (My bad, I didn't read the notes!)

Mine was updated at the dealer and they said the file was 16gb in total and took about 2hrs to do.
at least future updates can be done like this without going to the dealers.

I had high hopes too as my ACC has all the issues (kph limits, undertaking but not overtaking etc)
Unfortunately the OTA A896 update doesn't fix the ACC problems following my test drive just now
Counting down the days till I can get rid of the formentor and leave VW group cars behind in general

Have you even received the third stage of the update yet?

Mine updated yesterday, so far so good, but not done a long trip yet, so will need to see if ACC has been fixed. One thing that does annoy, is that the new CLIMA description, previously you could see from the screen if your AC was switched on to blow cold air (as it would show a fan symbol and A/C underneath, or just a fan symbol is AC not on), however, now just shows CLIMA, so have to go into the settings to check if the A/C is on

Is there a thread explaining how you get the data for ota updates ? Is it done through the phone being tethered? Sorry for being a bit clueless about it,

Agreed. I preferred the old icon. I also don’t like how CLIMA is aligned. Looks off to me

I signed up to Seat Connect which was free for the first year. The update just appeared on my cars screen, pulled in via the onboard eSIm.

Not sure if you need the Connect package for it to work?

That's helpful, I'm the same, but internet radio doesn't seem to work unless I use my phone Hotspot. Waiting for the update to come through.
