Guest, guest is the password to open that link. Second one down after the directory. Sufficient greater than what you are on, you can't go on the non 2 series yourself.

Hi guys, i´m new to that forum...so hello to everybody :) My english is not so good but I hope you understand it anyway. My location is Germany.
My Problem: I´m lost in reading and doing to get lifetime maps to work. What I did in the past: used the M.I.B. Tool 3.1.7 to activate GEM and backup my old stock firmware (1409) of the Unit, this sd card is stored in safe place and never touched after that. Then I used the latest 1447 AIO Image on another sd card to update MU to 1447 which gets done without errors (after that I used a new sd card with fresh MIB 3.1.7 to do another backup for the new installed 1447 firmware)....after a reboot I tried to install latest maps from Seat P189 which didn´t work, then I tried P195 from skoda wihich didn´t work ... both displays: "error: no new maps found on card" or something similar...I translated it because origin is german...
What can I do ?

One for the expert on the Mib Tool.... I didn't think you needed to touch Mib Tool if you used 1447 AIO?. Does it work with it ?. We'll be told.

On the Skoda 195 file they used a non standard compression that 7zip the recommended software doesn't like. You probably knew that. The VW 195 is fine with 7zip. The Skoda one you can use the built in Windows Explorer unzip, right click on it, rather than 7zip. That works fine, Covered here:

Gives some of the Briskoda people issues, like hitting your head on a brick wall. That might not be your problem but it wont read a map file if its been unzipped with random characters in it introduced by Mac's or problematic unzip files. Could be that or you are proficient enough to have sorted that one out. If it's not that then it's the friendly guys here to sort you out with the firm ware.

Hi Tell, I´m on an Mac using Mac stock software for unzipping all the time. Worked for my Audi A3 in the past but maybe there is a Problem with the map files for Seat/Skoda ? I have am Windows running in Parallels should I use it for unzipping ? Which map files do you think should I use ?

Well the built in one in Windows Filemanager will unzip the Skoda file. VW you use 7zip. I don't use Mac myself but you are suppose to use CleanMyDrive with Mac's run on the SD card. That removes any random stuff Mac's put in... some people do get away without using CleanMyDrive. May be in the Windows shell it's fine.

If using the Skoda file use the built in Windows Explorer on the right click under "Open with" to unzip. If VW file then "Open with" 7-Zip File Manager on the drop down with 7 zip installed.

So .... CleanMyDrive was the golden hint....never thought such a simple thing would cause so much trouble...after cleaning card with that tool and after reformatting under my Windows and following your instructions, everything works like a charm...thank you Tell ! Maps are now 2022 .... wow !

Good, I often parrot CleanMyDrive but not having a Mac I never know, but that's the VW instructions if using a Mac and it worked.

Note. The unit when reading the maps in does a stringent SLA1 signature check which preserves the integrity of the data from corruption or tinkering. One character out will throw that check. The Mac induced filecopy can add characters. It's that which CleanMyDrive removes. The people that get away with not using CleanMyDrive use alternative Mac unzipping programs to those mentioned but that presupposes that it will work on the Skoda variant compression that has been used recently. Either way the VW instructions say if using a Mac use CleanMydrive.

I suspect the firmware update avoided the stringent checks which is how it got read in... The map read got the full validation check.

I'd go for it, failing that load 516 back on. Re reading feels like you might be seeing the SWDL screen. If it is like map updates that way one is incremental which shows the flags, the other is just do the whole lot. You fiddle with the start button, select all, go back, and do (or start) from memory. I explained these screens once on the thread.

D means valid data for an update in that one (not downgrade). N means nothing to do. Err... means nothing to do and not a good idea.

D is good.

That's from memory 🤣. That D will change after its done it.
Hello,

I'm trying to revert to 515 from 516 also, but I don't understand how.
My upgrade button is grey, even if i use SWDL menu. Here is what I'm doing :
20220314_105350.jpg

I push SWDL button
20220314_105359.jpg

Then "Start Download", it shows this screen :
20220314_105409.jpg

And push "Update" (at the bottom right)
20220314_105419.jpg

From SD Card

20220314_105428.jpg

It's the 515 version that i want to used
But I can't do the update, the upper left button "Start" if greyed out:

I've read that i have to "select all", but I don't know how.

Can you help me ?

Thank you !

Kawaz.

Well to force a full 515 downgrade I suggest you hit "software download manual download", then you select all (on top right or left from memory once in there), then back out and then press start download (from my memory). By selecting manual download and toggling all in that, it forces "all" once you get back to that screen again. That top button toggles between an auto update or a manual one which allows downgrade or specific entities to be updated. If you back all the way out you have to start again. (Too much stabbing of the back button)

Well that is how map updates work in SWDL in the high. It's how that menu works but dont blame me.... but it is how a full forced software update was done on a high unit when it was decided by the expert here that a complete install should be done. It was on the SWDL menu it was forced by judicial use of the manual overide.

The other way is to just toggle the ones marked as D to update and leave the rest alone. D means it's got an update. N means it hasn't. Again that's how incremental updates can be done on high maps when I've experimented in the past. F is not good after its done it, means fail. Oks or N after is good. It's got no more to do.

Over to the firmware update experts if that doesn't work or it gets messed up... one poster has atleast reverted to 515.

Thanks a lot for your answer, but... I can't pass the first step 😕
When I hit Software Download Manual Download, nothing append.
Don't know why and what I can do.

Top button

Software Download Manual Download

Then

Start Download

That as I recall toggles the option to pick all or the attributes. If you don't hit the top button then it's like a normal update off the front screen. Way back on the posts it's what we did with someone. That's what you should find.

I'll have a look in the car tomorrow if you haven't worked that menu out by then.

Here is what i'm doing :

I've checked that I'm in developer mode with obdeleven and it's ok.

Mystery !
Yes it's the one you pressed, then press the one below (start download). It's just a toggle to say do it manually.

@Slickric21 I believe downgraded to 515 from 516. See if we can get them to come in.

After you have selected do it manually and press start the buttons below it should change revealing an all type of button, hit that.... step back and do it or something like that. You have to dance around the buttons. In the manual mode you can pick off each entity to update or select that all button... then as I recall you step back and just press start download. I know I've step back too many times in the past and come out of SWDL... so certainly reverse comes into it... somewhere 🤣.

I go into that menu every 6 months to do a high map update since I like to see what's going on. Saying this I am using SWDL on a high unit but will be similar.

Don't forget you need enough power to keep the unit on once it starts you can't stop it.

Ok I post an illustration of the SWDL menu, look from "Some screens"

You see the select all... and read on. So you want to do that on your firmware. The post above was part of my exploration of the mib2 high navigation update, that's all history now since we know you up date the navigation FeCs.... but is an example of partial and full updates using the SWDL menu.

The all important screen with select all on it, poke it it and start.... how you do it in a mib2 high. Will be the same. Ps since nobody is saying you don't do a 516 to 515 down grade this way we'll assume its the way.

Glad it worked for you. The all powerfull yet idiosyncratic SWDL menu on the manual toggle. As I said that was an example of its use... but not one you'd use on navigation updates but the one I cut my teeth on.

Hi guys, is there a newer sw version than this? Been experiencing some glitches lately. Ignore the old maps. I only use android auto so I don't really care about them.
