Formentor in the snow

Hi guys,

I'm in Sweden right now and there is alot of snow. I've read the manual and it says the following;

Does anybody see Snow profiles next to the Offroad profile? Because I don't. Thanks in advance.

Thinking about snow I did check what icon my twiddly knob has on my 4drive Ateca, snow asterisk. I see in your manual they don't put snow in bold whilst the others are. I'm wondering whether it's a sub option of off road ?. Don't have the car myself.

Assuming you don't find it in the manual or screens it might be a case for setting the individual mode. The snow setting is suppose to play with traction control so you get wheel spin to get a grip. So on individual you would scale that if possible if you can't find the snow setting.

I can say in the rare cases atleast in Southern England the Ateca snow setting in 4WD has been great and the 4WD setup when I haven't selected it but the back wheels have gripped as well as the front. Living in Wales now yet to see snow but may be next month from forecasts.... renewed interest in the snow setup .

I never saw Snow as a mode option. I would have assumed that Offroad contains "snow", like "Offroad and snow" is a full name meaning it allows some tyre slip and uses engine braking.

May be it's suppose to be read as off road and snow as one setting as you say although off road is put in bold so the other appears as an option. Does anybody want me to determine the Ateca settings for Off road v Snow setting. I recall it's shows them as a recipe between settings which you can replicate as individual. A bit academic since the Formentor is a different car. In crude terms as I recall it reduces traction control if not turning off completely. The old 2wd trick you did in snow reversing out of a snowed up drive.

Thanks for the reply! When I have it on Offroad I don't see another option pop up. The car drives very well in the snow (comfort mode) but I was just curious about the snow option because it's described in the manual. When driving on snowy roads comfort does the job for me. When I make new snow trails and drive up mountains I use the Offroad option.

Yes this might be it. But the manual says Offroad and snow options which made me think there was also a snow option for the Formentor.

Yes it's kinda confusing. Maybe I will send an email at Cupra support. I will just keep it at comfort and will change to offroad when the snowconditions get worse.

I've tabled the Ateca DSG 4WD 190TDI ones where snow was an option.

In the Formentor they treat off-road as snow so the setting is interchangeable... so it appears. For the Ateca the differences are that for snow driving steering is set to sport. The "engine" has two settings over and above normal, sport and eco, namely Off road and Snow. This will be gearing. Esc have their own settings Offroad and Snow.

I see Formentor boards don't talk too much about snow. Traction control, gearing and lightness of the steering is the one the Ateca affects. Not sure how you see your Off road settings against the others in the Formentor. Obviously, 4Drive is triggered a bit more on the Off road / Snow.

Not so much a reply, more an ancillary question.
I now have a Formentor VZ3 that replaced an Audi TTS which share very closely the same engine and 4wd; I have however never had the opportunity to check out either cars in snowy conditions.
I'm more than happy with the Formentor road holding in wet conditions but have had no experience at all in the snow!
I'd love to hear from other people how they found driving in such conditions

I reckon they will be alright. You must change the setting to snow / off road. The 4WD always has the ability to lock in the rear wheels (Haldex clutch) but if you set it to off road they are always locked... but I bet there is more if an expert that will come in about slippage and snow.

Basically if doing it manually, off road type of thing on the snow and back to normal once you are off the stuff. But as said normal can handle it to an extent, I've had that in my Altea where I started off from park in snow and the back wheels kick in. Level of intelligence going on but setting it to off road helps things out if on snow.

I have no snow mode on my VZ 2 model.

Howwer snow mode usually means reduction in torque the eco mode in manual settings does the same thing but that will give you no engine break on the other hand which is usually a good way to break on icey roads.

A snow mode would not hurt
Hopefully in a new update?

They need also a mode where the setting for the suspension is 100 percent. Cause it really transform the car. The cupra mode have 80 percent suspension it make a big difference.
