Left rear level control sensor - Where to buy?

Hi Folks,

I've had a 'Headlight Range Control' error for the past while in my 2014 Leon. Plugged it into the scanner and was given error code C103615 for the left rear level control system. Then I got a look at the part in question so I could find out the part code (5Q0 907 503), I've had a look online and haven't had much luck, there are plenty of options however a lot say they're for the front left, right etc. and I just wouldn't be sure I'm buying the right thing.

Has anyone had this issue before and would you know where this can be bought? I am based in the UK.

Any help is appreciated, cheers.

Did you have any luck in sourcing one of these? I have the same issue as you and the level sensor I require is the same as yours. As far as i can see there is only the one level sensor on my car. However when searching the part number of the sensor the ones I find all have completely different metal fittings.

I did get sorted but only after I went to a scrap yard specialising in SEAT / VW / SKODA vehicles. Luckily they had the same model car as mine in and were able to just take the sensor off the scrapped car and sell it to me. Got a mate then to fit it and have had no issues since.

Thanks for the reply. I have been trying to source one at a reasonable price. Getting quotes around £160 for a brand new one, which seems a bit steep. Hoping I can remove and reuse the bracket parts and get just the sensor slightly cheaper from something different. Seems the part number of the sensor is readily available but with different brackets etc for the different vehicles. I am reluctant to buy a second hand one incase it's also duff. Seems quite common for these to fail.

@Lewwy - you could give these guys a call and then make up you mind:

Ultimately using second hand parts is always a risk based decision, even if the part has been tested to confirm that it works due to the fact that the spare will have used up part of its life on the probability-failure curve - unless they can give you the age of vehicle / miles then you will not know how much life has been expended. For example if 50% of life had been expended, then you wouldn’t want to be spending more than 50% of its new value; however, supply/demand will also influence the price.

In terms of the risk based decision making aspect, this particular component it is exposed to elements and moves with every bump that the vehicle travels over; however, when it fails the safety risk is low (eg may impact visibility if driving at night, but will not impact diveability/safety systems fitted to the vehicle.

A final consideration is how long do you intend to keep the car?

Thanks for the link. I get where your coming from with making the decision on fitting 2nd hand parts. My car is a 63 plate so the sensor has some age to it. However it has just failed and the car has only just hit 34k miles. So its probably not operated as a component that much and not seen as many bumps as many other ones. I don't know if the earlier ones are more prone to failure than the ones fitted to later cars possibly? If buying 2nd hand I could easily be fitted one that's seen twice as much action as mine.

Unfortunate that one of them has failed, I used to own a 2000 VW Passat 4Motion that had factory spec'd HIDs so it had a couple of that type of sensor.

At maybe 9 or 10 years old, I finally gave in after putting up with a strange creaking noise when I jacked the front of the car up - and investigated, one end of the link on that front sensor was partially seized, I just ordered in a new one and fitted it, that partially seized one still worked okay and was only making that noise when jacking the car up, but I reckoned it made good sense to change it before that link snapped off.
