Seat Leon Cupra 300 Faults

Hi there, just a question about the on board ‘vehicle status’ on my 2017 Leon Cupra 300. I was just wondering what sort of faults the car picks up itself without using an OBD reader? I feel like I’m getting some abnormal noises from the engine bay but I have no EML or fault codes.
Also is it normal in idle to have the engine shake/vibrate a small amount?

Hi mate, it shakes very slightly for about a minute then settles. Do the built in vehicle status show engine faults or just tyre pressure?

I also have a 2017 Cupra 300, and I have noticed that at idle there is a very subtle vibration/shaking that I can feel. Obviously some vibration is normal when the engine is running but there is a slight unevenness to it. That said it is so minor that I have never really given it much thought.

I haven't noticed any unusual noises though, could you describe what you've heard?

Same on 1.8 tsi slight vibration every now and again. Modern cars idle so low for emmisions and run on a different cycle at idle so its to be expected.

I’ll see if I can get a video later mate. First time it had happens… no faults on vehicle status or EML tho?

Have you check the misfire counters?

Could be entirely unrelated I had a very similar sounding problem on a SLK which generated no OBD errors because there's a threshold per period for it to generate an error / occasional misfires are expected (long story short I had two issues, a sheared lever arm on the air inlet manifold (an expensive fix) and a failing ignition coil resulting in charred spark plug (a cheap and relatively easy fix)).

The best way I found to visualise the vibrations was with a bottle of water on the dashboard and engine cover and watching the ripples.

Hi mate, it’s like a tapping sound, any ideas?

im going to replace spark plugs/coils mate, it’s not logged any misfires but still judders ever so slightly so replacing them should fix it.

I had this issue with my previous 280 (used car) The dealer did some work to the intake system.

I think they basically disassembled the whole throttle body and cleaned it. I thought that car had a hard life before I got it!

My current 2018 290 (had from new) idles smoothly but I always warm it up before giving it beans etc.

My current 290 is smooth as butter, never hunts revs.

The tapping sound is usually normal for the EA888 due to the direct injection fuel system.
