Automatic hazard lights with reverse gear??? Is it possible??

As per the title, is it possible to code the car so that the hazard lights activate automatically whenever reverse gear is selected??? Before anyone comes on here and tells me that's a stupid/pointless/unnecessary thing to have, my work area requires that ALL vehicles reversing on site MUST use hazard lights whenever they are moving backwards. It would make life so much easier if the hazards activated as soon as the car goes into reverse.
If anyone who knows any coding for this, I'd be really grateful. 64 plate Leon 1.6TDI SE Technology.

It wouldn't be difficult to illuminate the indicators when reverse gear is engaged. However it would be more complex to have them flash when in reverse. Should be possible though :)
Seems like a niche need, and not sure on the legalities....

But Is there not an automated function to display hazards under heavy braking? Could maybe hook into that?

Could you not just run a wire from the reverse switch on the gear stick to the hazard switch.... So when reverse is engaged so is the hazards...

But I suppose if it worked it would work both was... Eveytime you put the hazards on your reverse light came on...... Sorry if that's a daft question.

In a car from 80s maybe but not in modern car with can bus network

How about installing a small on/off toggle switch, black unobtrusive, on the side of the gear stick and running the wires from the oem switch to the new switch... Hopefully the gear stick is hollow to run the wires.

You could then select reverse and switch on hazards in one go.

Mmmm.... Just thought.. If this would affect the MOT?

But then whats the difference in flicking a toggle switch or pressing the hazard button

True but I was under the assumption the OP was trying to do this, with as little effort as possible. So no need to raise your arm to press the oem switch then put car into reverse.
It could all be done in one go when hand is on the gear stick.

Doesn't seem like to much effort to turn on hazards, I know, but I guess it depends on how often you put the car in reverse.

Interestingly (FCVO interesting), starting over 20 years ago, some companies began insisting that all cars should be reveresed parked, so that drivers would always be looking in the direction of travel when pulling out. I think the first time I came across this was probably Scottish Power, swiftly followed by various oil companies and large EPC contractors. One wonders why there would be a need for such extensive reversing in private cars at the OP's place of work that additional warning with hazards is required?

I'd forgotten about this thread I originally posted - the question has been sorted now by yet another health and safety ruling. At my workplace, hazard lights must now be used by ALL moving vehicles at ALL times whilst on the premises (follows a manager's car getting hit by a forklift 😔) so the hazards go on as we go through the gate, and off once (reverse only) parked🤪

I once worked for a company that insisted all cars were parked facing a wall so that the exhausts didn't mark the wall.
