Hi all, I'm Alan. I've been lurking around the forum for the past couple of years and finally decided to join.

My son bought a mk1 cupra and we did a few mods to it (air filter, exhaust, remap, coilovers). I thought it was a great car for the money so decided to get one myself but had to go 1 better!

So I broke all the rules and viewed a car miles away, at night and in the rain having already sold my car 2 weeks earlier! Naturally I bought it, quite cheap thankfully!
All I can say is at least I don't need to worry about parking at tesco, it has lacquer peel on almost every panel (red) and a few small scrapes and dings. It had an r tech remap, cobra turbo back and an oversize tip.

It is fun to drive and I like to do bits n pieces to it so it will keep me busy. This forum has been amazing and helped alot with everything I've had to do to it so far.

Thanks for having me

Welcome... looking on the bright side, R-tech know their stuff so the engine should be well mapped. You planning to get it resprayed?

Thanks. I'm glad the mapping was done properly. The respray will be the last thing on the to do list I'm afraid. There's plenty of things to be doing first. I will probably start a RR to log it all, maybe put some pics up too...at a distance!

Good choice of car.
Hope it’s been treated well?
You can never tell.
Only time.
As for the paint. Wrapping is much cheaper option.
Unless you know a guy.
Good luck with it.

Badger5 Custom Map + TIP,
3”Custom exhaust, FMIC, Bosh 550’s, BC Coilovers, ARB’s +loads more.

Thanks. Well it hasn't broken down in 18 months, so that's a bonus. It does have many minor niggles but that keeps me busy doing things to it. Part of the charm of these cars!

Welcome, the car looks great enjoy the car while you can before having it painted that’s what I’m doing with my underdog mk2 Leon. Might get it painted one day but gonna worry about getting it faster for now. I’ve been after a mk1 for so long but could never find the right now and then this mk2 came up from a mates dad so had to get it.

Thanks. I probably should've waited a bit longer for a nicer one, it looks ok at a distance!
I see I'm only a few miles up the a30 from you. I'll have to keep an eye out for a yellow mk2 when I'm in basingstoke.

Where abouts are you mate? Also you’ve done the right thing getting the one you did mate your gonna end up saving that car from being abused and actually look after it and make it into a keeper look at it that way.

I'm in hook. Spent 14 years in basingstoke before moving here.
I'm not sure about saving it, maybe making it last as long as possible!
There seems to be plenty being broken for parts but at least others can keep going because of them.

Ah cool just down the road then. There are plenty being broken unfortunately not everyone has the chance to save there’s. I saved mine from the scrap heap and am doing a lite resto on the car sorting all of the common problems I’d hate to think how much money I’ve put into mine not that it matters as this Leon cupra mk2 is my dream Dailey. I know that sounds sad as there are plenty of cars out there to dream about haha but this is mine.

Nah, not sad, my dream car is a 3 door cossie. At least yours is attainable.
Putting more time and money into a car than is sensible is what makes us petrol heads!
