The wheels on my car were part of a £700 pack that included the wheels, grey mirrors and something else so trivial I still don't know what it is. Dealer told me but jiggered if I can remember, or care.

I actually think 17'' is the sweet spot for Leon alloys. 16'' is too wallowy and 18'' is too crashy. Wouldn't mind if the bigger wheels offered more feedback but they don't.

I quite like the ride currently on the 18’s plus I think they fill the arches which is a good look!

coming from a 1.9tdi Ibiza on coilovers... anything is less crashy though haha

Mine (plus the tyres) give more feedback......…..on the potholes :roflmao:

I genuinely don't understand it. Years ago I had a Nissan Primera GT which was also fairly crashy around town. Maybe not quite as bad as the FR but in the same sort of ballpark. Once you got to 40mph though the suspension seemed to click into place and the car was stable, composed and gave you fantastic feedback from the wheels. You always knew exactly how much grip you had and you could push the car crazy hard because of it.

The FR doesn't do that. It's harsh in town but the payoff isn't there. At speed the car is simply still harsh and, although it does have reasonable grip and stays fairly flat, it doesn't tell you that much about what the wheels are doing. It's not terrible but why can manufacturers not get this right today when they could twenty years ago?? Where is the progress?

I used to have a 1991 VX Cav GSI 4X4 and it was well planted, when I moved to a new 2000 VW Passat 4Motion - which was meant to have firm/sportish suspension, it was like going from a car that you strapped on around you to one that you sat on top off, not very good feeling but a very complaint ride, now that I'm in a 2011 Audi S4, I'm back with a car that was as good as my old 1991 VX Cav GSI 4X4 - so that was discontinuous progress in my mind.

Might have something to do with the electornically assisted power steering as well.
My brothers old BMW 120d, if felt like i was using a gaming steering wheel because it felt like it was forcing itslef back to middle, and artifically accelerating the rotation when i turned the wheel. Was a very weird experience.
