Believe me I really am as it's put a hold on some other plans of mine as now I need to fund these essential repairs but oh well **** happens I guess.

I'm going to start making enquiries with some local VAG specialists tomorrow to ascertain the costs involved as tbh I don't really have the time to sort it myself right now and itd be nice to have some form of warranty on major works of this nature.

On the plus side whoever I send it too will also receive a huge pile of engine upgrades to fit whilst its there in bits.

Feel for you but we did talk about this earlier.

Our cars are just like the wives, Money Pits and if you don't pay attention to them ALL THE TIME then you will suffer.

Hope it gets sorted and don't cost to much.

Can we group buy engine parts??

Sent from my VOG-L29 using Tapatalk

Hell yes I’m down! But that means everyone would need to agree on the same parts... which isn’t likely. Everyone tends to choose their own brand etc

Just a little update on my movements regarding the Leon...

So after many hours spent looking into rebuilding the original engine, researching parts to use and an uncountable amount of emails to numerous VAG specialists I felt like I wasn't really getting anywhere fast as I there didn't seem to be much commitment from any of garages or set prices in mind so it was becoming an open cheque book scenario which I really couldn't afford to entertain.

The next step was attempting to hunt down a decent used engine and believe me this is no easy task either as it had to be low mileage, forged and ideally not at the other end of the country - basically impossible!

This brought me to another route which admittedly I wasn't expecting to follow but it looks like it's going ahead now and I'm quite excited tbh as this will definitely put my Leon onto another level.

But without getting ahead of myself and divulging to much in case it somehow goes tits up let's just say 330bhp incoming.

More to follow on Saturday...

Latest update, albeit it a day later than expected.

Yesterday I caught the 9.29am train from Maidstone to make my journey up to Shrewsbury via London to collect this.

Some of the blurb from the listing and from speaking to the previous owner combined.

Seat Leon Cupra R 330 BHP Hybrid Turbo

• 2004
• 98,000 miles
• 12 months MOT - only had tyres as advisories - 2 x Goodyear Eagle F1 now fitted
• Wheels recently refurbished - immaculate
• Wheel spacers all round
• Rare option of Recaro interior and double din head unit with sat nav

I purchased this car standard after searching for a while. It has been my second car and only used on weekends. Hence the low yearly mileage of around 2,000 over the last few years. It has now benefited from the following.

• Forged engine - IE rifle drilled rods, standard pistons and Supertech exhaust valves. Cambelt and waterpump fitted at the same time. Approx 4k miles ago.
• Mamba K04 hybrid turbo setup - covered approx 3k miles
• R Tech tuned to 330 BHP with print out - Power reduced to this to aid with traction
• 3" Milltek turbo back exhaust system with decat
• Airtec Front mount intercooler
• Neuspeed 28mm rear anti roll bar
• JOM coil over suspension
• DW65 fuel pump
• Bosch 550cc injectors
• Ram Air induction kit with heat shield
• R8 TFSI coilpacks
• 4 bar fuel pressure regulator
• SFS oversized turbo intake pipe
• PCV delete with Michi oil catch can installed
• Pro4 exhaust manifold - ported to turbo to aid flow
• LUK clutch kit fitted at time of rebuild
• M Tec drilled & grooved discs front & rear Ferodo DS2500 front pads & Brembo rear pads all covered approx 3k miles

After all modifications were complete, it was then tuned by Niki Gower @ RTech performance in Nuneaton. If you know anything about the 1.8t engines, you’ll know he’s one of the best in the game when it comes to tuning these engines.

I have probably missed some spec from this listing but you get the idea, all parts were brand new and fitted by myself.

Private plate will be removed. Back on to WF04ZLZ.

The car drives as it should with no unwanted noises. Serviced twice a year. The ride is quite hard due to coilovers but this did not affect me as it is a weekend car that has done 2,000 miles each year.

Paint work could do with some attention. As with all red VW group cars of this age, lacquer peel has begun. The affects the door handles and bonnet/bumper. Easily rectified though and you will have a great example that will surprise a lot of cars on the road.

Absolutely not, my grey one is much nicer. The plan all along had been to buy this for the engine and associated parts plus maybe a few other goodies.

To be fair the sales pics are quite deceiving and its cosmetically in much poorer condition than I'd anticipated so apart from the fact I'm not a huge fan of red and on top of the fact that's got a **** load of lacquer peel its destined to be stripped for sure.

Awesome man! I’m so happy you found a car to rape to make your beast even better! That engine is good for 500hp just so you know! As long as you keep the rpm below 7500, or upgrade the valve springs.

The stock Mahle forged pistons are good till 550

In all honesty it's already a huge jump up in power from the broken one so I have no inclination (at this point) to even consider any engine upgrades as this thing f*cking flies!

Although I do plan on dressing the bay a bit better as I'd only seen one engine bay pic and in reality it's not as tidy as expected plus the blue and red assorted hoses will need to be replaced by more suitable oem black ones.
