So on Thursday I picked the Leon up from my local seat garage, they took a day longer than expected as the parts didn't come in time but all sorted now and locks/unlocks perfectly! Oh and they gave me a 1.2 fiat 500 as a courtesy car...

Well chuffed with it, such a fantastic car! (The Leon

Serviced it today, and the cam follower wasn't worn bad at all although the seal did look abit perished however the kit from awesome gti came with the seal etc so was replaced anyway. Runs absolutely perfect :)

Also got a carista last week and enabled leaving home lights and turned off the auto locking door whilst driving

Got a horrible vibration noise coming from the rear, bearings are absolutely fine but found lumps in the inside of both rear tires! So gone with 4 new Goodyear Eagle F1's as the fronts needed replacing as they look pretty old and cracked. Had these tires on my previous car and they were brilliant!

Also got some licence plate LED's and some new 3D gel plates, really smartens it up I think and also fitted LED's in the rear indicators which are a little bit brighter than normal.

That is one shiny car!

Do you get any errors for the rear indicator lights? I wanted to get an LED for the reverse as it's quite pathetic but the indicators don't seems amazing either...

great job!

Thanks mate! No errors as I made sure I got canbus ones and they work well. Wasn't sure if they would hyperflash but I'm guessing vag cars just throw up a light rather than hyperflash if your indicator is out. I would like to upgrade the reverse light but heard they strobe upon starting the car so kind of put me off abit

Had my PCV Valve replaced along with the gasket a few weeks ago, car seems good and doesn't smoke excessively on idle anymore however it still doesn't like cold starts.

Anyway done a few very small bits, upgraded to LED sidelights and as I had a pack of 10 I chucked some in the dome light in the car and replaced the festoon one in the middle with a spare 42mm LED which i managed to squeeze in. Have yet to do the light towards the back as I have ran out of festoons.

(Number plate fell off, back on now but going to tigerseal it to the bumper soon)

Put on some little seat branded dustcaps and also some cupra branded seatbelt covers as they were a christmas gift, they look alot smarter than I thought they would but I have them in the back seats as they'll end up irritating me when am driving

And last but not least I unscrewed and pulled of the horrible 9ft ariel and replaced it with a gloss black shark fin which has an ariel inside you screw into the existing hole. So much cleaner now and I hope I stuck it on straight as it got dark very quick lol.

Took advantage of the average weather last weekend and polished up the exhaust (Started off with hot soapy water then moved onto autosol with wire wool) and also had some gloss black wrap laying around that I'd never used so thought I'd have a go at wrapping the front seat badge. I've never wrapped anything in my life and probably should of watched a few how to's before hand but it turned out ok just dont get to close to the badge

The number plate is back on too, can't seem to get a secure bond to the bumper with sticky pads so i'll tigerseal it if the weathers good this weekend :)

Gave the engine bay a quick spruce up just with some EZ Car care APC. I didn't dress it.

It's been a while! Nothing much has gone on really, I did get a super cheap carbon fiber look rubber splitter which I actually really like the look of! And tinted the fogs yellow with some yellow light wrap which I will probably re do one day as its not great but looks okay from a distance lol. Car was filthy as per so a routine wash was in order!

Fairly busy week, all in time for trax though!

Anyway I started off on monday by sorting out my rusty hubs, they look absolutely awful so a while ago I got some silver hammerite to paint them with.

Picture spam...

These are all before I started, you can see how awful they are!

I did mask them up too as I'm not the most steady handed

IMG-20190702-144928.jpg

IMG-20190702-144942.jpg

Much much better!

And now onto the rear plastic

Started off by sanding down with 60 grit on a power sander and did the more intricate areas by hand.

IMG-20190703-WA0001.jpg

Once I had removed as much of the texture as I could, I sanded with some 180 grit, then set about getting some coats of plastic primer on.

IMG-20190703-172539.jpg

It took quite a few coats of primer to get a good coverage. I used over a can.

Many many coats later, it was ready to be flatted back

IMG-20190703-175010.jpg

Once I got it flatted back I cracked on with the gloss black paint, £1.99 a tin from home bargains!

IMG-20190703-202740.jpg

IMG-20190704-124849.jpg

It took alot of painting to get it to how it looks above, after I wet sanded with 600 grit to get rid of the orange peel and to smooth out the paint, and simply polished it back up with some chemical guys compound and then finished with meguiars 205. In all honesty I spent 2 days doing this and the final few hours I couldn't stand the thought of any more sanding so I rushed it and didn't bother to lacquer it. It's just to last till I get a cupra R diffuser :)

Finished product

After

IMG-20190704-224837.jpg

Its far from perfect but I'm just glad to see it on the car now, at some point i'll perfect it a little more by sorting out the parts where I sanded to the primer by accident and the marks here and there. But for under a tenner and no experience at all of painting I'm happy!

Tiny mod today, not even a mod really just a sticker lol. After looking at the cupra R seats I liked the idea of having the cupra flag on the back of them so I ordered some cheap stickers off eBay! They were such a pain to stick as the back of the seat is textured plastic and is not really sticky at all so hopefully they stay on!

Normal
