Just done some mods to get me started, it already has majority of the “apps” Installed, but I bought the pro and went in for some decent coding.

Removed the torque limiter, one word... wow.

Throttle response, again what a fantastic change.

I left the xds settings alone for now.

Lsd settings to improve traction

I was going to do some more in dept long coding to do with the led/indicator lights but because I’m using a tablet that’s using my iPhone as a hot spot it was jumping on and off connecting causing some issues so I bailed out of that.

Will look out for more decent mods, some wouldn’t connect when trying (like changing the car to an Audi, but I think the throttle response already covers that...)

Any suggestions welcomes

Can you or anyone else elaborate on the torque limiter (assume just in lower gears) and the lsd settings...

The torque limiter is a setting on the car to reduce wheel hop it seems, so the car restricts the torque in gear 1,2 and 3.

The extra grip from the lsd I can’t 100% comment in because I’ve only had the car a couple of weeks and living in Scotland there hasn’t been much dry driving. The change to the throttle response, LSD and torque limiter all put on at once makes a massive change.

Can’t wait to do some more miles as it’s already a fantastic car to drive but these few tweaks just make it 10 times better. :)

The torque limiter isn't what it seems, it will only intervene when it thinks the wheels are going to hop, this is active even when all the TC is turned off!

Once it's deactivated and you plant your foot down in 1st there is nothing to stop the wheels hopping and smashing your gearbox mount to bits, so, either learn to modulate the throttle yourself or invest in a dog bone mount and better tyres first!

Turned mine off as at times I was getting it kicking in to life at the end of 2nd gear with the TC turned off, became very annoying!

Also to note this option doesn't seem available anymore on late 2018 and 2019 cars!

I've been using the increased traction LSD setting for a year now, noticed no difference, same goes for the throttle coding!

The throttle response was noticed instantly, the fact you noticed no difference is crazy as I noticed a massive difference.

Tough to describe but it was although pressing/depressing the accelerator was done through a big sponge, very gradually and soft. Now it can be as harsh as I like.

Worth the 60 quid for that all day long.

How do I know if my car has the camera for the road sign recognition? Also when I click my full beam on and back to normal there’s an A, is this some sort of automatic dimming lights so I don’t blind others, would this be done with the same camera to recognise road signs?
The quick answers are yes and yes.

The A indicates that you have high beam assist, which will dip the headlamps if it detects another car ahead - either by its headlamps or tail lamps. It will also raise them again when said car is out of range. It works very well IMO but you need to be doing above about 40 MPH.

This is the same camera that you need for sign recognition so you should be able to code this. The app will require 100 credits but its probably worth it as there's a lot of steps to go through.

I worked this out late last night as I know the car has lane assist so I googled where the camera was for this! Thanks for clarifying!

Car is currently in the shop having the wheels refurbished due to some blemishes when I bought it, I’m allowed to change the colour so went for a slightly darker gun metal grey against the metal finish should look pretty good!

I ran out of credits so I’ll do it the long way, my car already has the compass where the road sign shows so I’m assuming I’ll need to deactivate that first...

Next step is the exhaust, looking online is a bit of a minefield though as some videos make the exhaust sound awesome on the 280 with just a resonator delete and others say it’s barely noticeable unless you delete the resonator and middle silencer, anyone got any more info/videos on this? The full kit to delete both is £120 which seems reasonable.

Thanks :)

Alloys back, pristine!

Anyone in central Scotland use the wheel specialist, top class.

Reverse camera arrived today, will plug it in first as it was less than a tenner off wish (its the proper one that goes into the reg bulb slot) so long as everything’s ok I’ll have that enabled once I tackle that job..

It's not a very honest way of doing it, but, if you want more credits simply change the date on your phone/tablet one day, claim your free credits then change it one day again etc etc!

I tried and it never worked I figured they maybe worked out a way to link the free credits/videos to your account?

I think they fixed that but dont work anymore, but you dont need credits anyway just code the changes you want thats the point of the tool.

If you want apps get Carista.

i have over 3000 credits now the only time I use them is doing simple stuff for other people and testing new releases.

I’m happy enough doing the coding, it’s a bit of an issue with the linking my wee ones tablet to my phone for an internet connection but once I sell my old car I’ll be able to reach the wifi.

Obdeleven is top notch for the mods so far, worth it just for the throttle response. :)

Ok, next upgrade I’m thinking is to replace the resonator/silencer, there’s plenty videos on YouTube of sitting still but I’m wondering what it’s like day to day.

I phoned a local exhaust company who said they thought it would sound “tinny” and tried to sell me a custom/cobra exhaust...

Any comments/videos from anyone who has done this please give me your feedback.

Thanks

Lower engine mount fitted (powerflex)
Resonator and silencer deleted, sounds like it should now, not too loud but has a decent rip!

Tyres in a couple of months then a remap later in the year. That’s it for now I think... maybe an air box.

@ray have you actually fitted the reversing camera to the MIB unit yet, Reason I ask is the connections on the camera dont just plug into the mib.

No I haven’t, plan is to take the unit out of the glove compartment and see what plugs I would need to plug it in and go from there.

I bought it before realising I’d need to take off the rear bumper to fit.

Thanks for the answer. Taking the rear bumper off is easy, I did a how to here if that helps, The problem I have is I know there are some instructions on how to convert the yellow video feed on the camera (and the vast majority of them are like this) to fit into one of the square blocks that fit in the MIB1 Unit I have

Great write up cheers. I wasn’t sure about the reverse camera so thanks for clarifying that also. Be a while before I tackle that, misty laziness to be honest!

Will get a video up soon of the resonator/silencer delete, considering its so simple it’s made a massive difference!

Cheers :)

Just to add in I did a quick review on here and found this thread that shows you how to do it .

With regards to the cable to plug into the MIB1 Unit I found this that seems to do what the above thread shows you need
