As mines is a diesel the emissions don’t apply, only a spot test. As long as it looks like a cat is fitted then all good

In our country every MOT includes also emissions test . No way you can pass without a cat. :redcard:

So noticed one of my sidelights was fuller than the other, turns out that 3 of the 9 smd LEDs were knacked.
Bought new set and fitted in 10mins

There's decent money in these oem cats mate, I usually chop the pipe sections off and post them to a cat recycling company for at least £70 a time.

Postage is usually covered on top. Even so once you've chopped it short a courier shouldn't be any more than a tenner anyway.

Noticed an annoying rattle which I was afraid I knew was going to happen, the heat shield around the downpipe had 5 securing washers missing. Fortunately TPS have these in stock so bought 10 (£1.04 ea). Up on axle stand, secured heat shield with new washers

The missus said the amber engine light came on the other day . Got home from work 2day so went out to see and yep it stays on, linked in my code reader and only one error code which points towards either a glow plug or the harness (P0684 / 17068 Glow Plug/Heater implausible signal).
Will have to check see if it’s a glow plug or the harness - all of which I replaced a couple or 3 years ago

So ordered 4 new glow plugs fro TPS and got round to changing them today. However when I re-scanned for faults I am now getting “P0684 Glow Plug Control Module (J271) Implausible Signal”………aghhhh
Anyone know where the the module is and if easy to replace??

Just an update, a couple of days running the new glow plugs the amber warning light has gone out and I’ve no codes

Still had EML light on after changing all glow plugs so decided to replace the harness (or Bridge, as it's called on official system)
Stripped her down to get into it - the harness is well taped in and runs under battery & air filter housing with the plug shown here at top of pic just under "white" tape:

Unfortunately I'd bought a new harness from TPS and it turned out to be the wrong one :banned::censored: mine has 4 wires and not the 2 wire harness I bought. So a trip back to TPS next day - in wife's car:whistle:
So I got new (correct) glow plug harness from TPS, £39:

Decided to wrap it in waterproof tape to make it more OEM:

All plugged in then I routed as original:

I ended up cutting out as much of the original loom as I could, it was well taped in so just left 2/3 in the tray!!!!!!!
Just managed to get everything back in as the rain came on in force :cry: so will scan 2moro to see if the fault has cleared :whistle:


A lot more successful that my glow plug change on my previous daily MK2 Golf TDI, changed plugs, 26 year old loom broke up, spliced a new one in and wouldn't start doh! broken some wires in the main engine loom when undoing it all.

Tempted to change the plugs in my Leon now but don't want the same to happen again haha.

Just make sure the engine is warm/hot and I would recommend spraying the glow plugs with release oil or WD40 the night before - I’ve just replaced mine again and came out a treat with the engine hot

Plugs came out fine on my old 1.9TDI (AHU MK3 mechanical pump not PD) it was the harness that disintegrated when I pulled it out.

So been waiting for a while for the right priced airbag to come along and after a wee bit haggling I managed to bag a new mk3 Leon airbag
Day of attack started by refreshing over a couple of threads in other forums:

So with no excuse I got into it.
I had already bought a spare airbag loom from mk1 Leon so cut off the yellow airbag plug and soldered the ends

Next I cut off the crimps from ‘black & ‘brown’ wires and soldered the ends.
I removed the mk3 Leon airbag plug (you have to lift out the orange lock to then be able to pull out the yellow plug)

Removed the mk3 loom from airbag and cut off the main plug as this will not fit mk1

Soldered all the ends and began joining:
For the horn,
- old BLACK to new BLACK/WHITE
- old BROWN to new BROWNS x2
For the airbag,
- old BLUE to new GREY/BLUE
- old BROWN to new WHITE

Covered joints with heat shrink. Reattached black & brown cables to airbag.
Out at car, disconnected battery -ve and pulled steering wheel out and down as far as possible. Removed airbag as per video on YouTube. Re-centred wheel and removed retaining bolt with m12 twin spline tool and ratchet

Refitted new steering wheel, making sure the alignment marks were in line and tightened up bolt.

Connected yellow main plug into connector and put airbag into steering wheel but not fully in. Connected the battery-ve and tested the ignition from outside the car - all lights went off including the airbag light so turned ignition on fully and let car idle for 5 minutes while I tidied up. Tested the horn - OK .
Pushed the airbag into steering wheel and switched the ignition off-on-off to recheck.
