Well I've ridden over 300km and loving the car.
I have to say there's a bit of a lag on the turbo but when it kicks in then it goes like the clappers.
The arm rest is starting to annoy me.
Boot space is amazing for a smaller car.
The rain sensor works perfect.
Radio takes a bit of working out.
I have the 215/40/17 tyres and feel a lot more of the road compared to my Leon.
The build quality is up there with my Leon if not better.
Road noise is slightly higher .
It sounds like I'm moaning but I have to say I love the car especially when the turbo kicks in defiantly a step up from my Leon.
Any questions feel free to ask.

Does the 1.4 EcoTSI not have the supercharger too like the old 1.4TSI did? I'm used to waiting for the turbo in my 1.2TSI but like you say, once it kicks in its a hoot (even with less power than yours!)

I'm glad to hear about the build quality. What Leon do you have, an MK3?

Re turbo lag. Didn't find it noticeable on our test drive (I'm sure if i'd have gone looking doubtless I would have found some) - but keeping it above 2k revs as both I and my OH did, it really was unobtrusive. I wonder if it's just a case of initial friction in the turbo. My last petrol turbo (subaru) seemed to do the same and took a few thousand miles before smoothing out.

RE FR2013s comment - no Supercharger on this engine. The twin charger engine seemed good in theory but was disappointing in practise and has been phased out.

And about moaning - the negatives are valuable grist to the mill and very helpful, no car is perfect, eulogies are not believable.

Also the newer cruise control takes some getting used to. i.e when I changed down in my Leon the cruise control turned off but on the new Ibiza the cruise control stays on when changing down.
Also I love the adaptive xenon lighting and the rear view camera is very helpful.
I was parked next to my brother in laws Audi A3 and he as the 205/55/16 tyres on and compared to mine they looked like tractor tyres.

Yes - loved this in my Merc - you can accelerate back up to speed just changing gear as required.

Sounds great - all cars have things that irritate or are not as good as they could be.

Have you taken delivery of yours mark ? If so what are your thoughts and opinions on the car ?
On long drives the arm rest is very handy just on short trips folded up my elbows touches it constantly.

No not yet - boat is just about to dock in UK with my car on.

Was just making reference to my slightly larger frame :).

Tylerjet, what sort of settings can be changed via the infotainment system? Can you turn cornering headlights off for instance?

I'm sure that when all cars have electric handbrakes having an armrest in a small car will be okay, it was okay (for me) in my old 2000MY B5 Passat with its normal handbrake, but in my wife's Polo SEL with its normal handbrake even I have been beaten by it. My usual car is an Audi S4 but it has an electric handbrake so the armrest does not block access to the switch.

Turbo lag, coming from a normally aspirated small car (2003MY 9N Polo 1.4), this is my first experience of a turbo charged car and these modern engines seem to be set up to behave like diesels so you can easily get the impression that it is "ready to give some" - but you have let the revs drop too low - really just a re-learning curve I suppose.

Damn, thanks for letting me know. I'll have to butcher the car with VCDS earlier than I thought :D
