Handling upgrades advice/dilemma

Hi

I have had my fr tdi cr170 since December 2014 and have to say it is bloody awesome to drive as its stage 2 with remap and dpf delete. I have had hr 40mm lowering springs put on my stock dampers approx 6 months ago which have covered 110k miles.

Now someone advised that I change my dampers all round as at this mileage they would be tired.

Oem dampers come to approx £160ish I think and are oil filled or I can go for the bilstein b4 sports which are gas filled and would cost £210. Will I really see a difference between the two and do I really need to replace the dampers as I have had no issues.

I've also got the bug about installing front and rear anti roll bars. Will I see another huge difference on fitting these? im looking into the hr

Now is anyone running either of these and what feedback can you give.

I've seen the price of the white line anti lift kit and am also considering that but at £170 ish i am hoping they make a huge improvement. If the roll bars would make more of a difference then I would not fit the walk kit.

I've been quoted £160 to fit the dampers, roll bars and walk kit....is that a good price?

Would really love to know if there are any specialists in west London/London as everyone
seems so far away to get too..

My handling woes continue...oh and forgot to mention that I also want to fit 10mm spacers front and 15rear. I guess that's the sizes to run due to rubbing issues as have been looking through other peoples threads.

Any advice appreciated. The car is not a track car but a very spirited street driving car.

I think the combination will give you good results while not being too harsh for road use. If you decide to change the dampers (at 110k probably wise to get the best results from the other mods) then I personally would go for Bilsteins for the extra £50. £160 is reasonable for fitting IMO.

As above, for the sake of £50 I'd personally go for the Bilstein option.

The H&R ARBs matched with the Whiteline ALK will give a big improvement to the handling and not really effect the ride quality either which is a win win.

If your not going to track it I'd just replace them for new oem parts, your only going to make your car more uncomfortable,

I'd suggest spending your money on a big brake upgrade if you already haven't

Very little difference in terms of comfort between standard dampers and the Bilstein B4 dampers.

Looking at the cost of the WALK kit compared to power flex I'd choose the power flex purely down to price and again looking at a set of arbs front and rear but they're all so damn expensive.

If I do the ALK on the front do I need a front Arb? Or will a rear Arb suffice.

I want a more planted feel with less roll as I corner hard and want to be able to be flat out with less of th esp coming on..

I will be replacing the brakes next but have been very happy with the mintex pads front and rear. Yet to make them fade
Very good bite hot and cold.

You could fit the WALK with the standard ARBs or just fit an uprated rear which will give you less roll and a sharper turn in.

I'm reaching the stage where I'm considering some suspension upgrades too. My priority is to actually improve the comfort of my pre face-lift FR, which I could probably do with concrete springs!

I gather that Vogtland suspensions kits seem to be the best value choice and much higher quality than the price would suggest. With 'only' 240hp I'm not massively looking to upgrade the handling, although I may tempted by a ALK set up.

Does anyone know if these Vogtland kits would improve both comfort and handling of a 9 year old, 70k mile pre-face lift FR?

As long as you stick with a good quality kit, which the Vogtland kit is, most of the mid range or higher options will improve the ride over FR suspension which has covered 70k.

Maybe super pro is the way forward. Damian how much can you supply the super pro ones for.
Also on the Arb discussion a few seem to think it adds pressure on the drop links. What upgrades do you offer in drop links?
