Buying a new Leon SC FR - best price?

I'm going to completely disagree with you on the choice of white. For me Nevada white not like cream at all more like fresh snow with that glint if sunshine on it. The standard white looks alot more like a cream colour. Also the cloth seats are imo alot more comfortable than the alcantara.

And I'm pretty sure the seat sound system comes with sat nav high.

The tech pack leon frs have led lights all round

Completely agree with you on the colour debate. When I purchased my car, I took a photo of it and in the background was a non-metallic white - the Nevada white on my car made it look very creamy, almost yellowy. Nevada looks fantastic when nice and clean on a sunny day.

I have alcantara and I really rate it, but that being said, if I had to have chosen cloth, I wouldn't complain as I think they look great.

Just got back from the dealer, had a test drive and wow I'm impressed :D

Drives like a dream and the Full Link system works well on my HTC Android phone, learnt that it doesn't require the Navigation High system which brings cost down a bit.

Price-wise they can't match the quote I've had from DTD, having seen what's available in the UK on the SEAT system I'll be interested to see if DTD have anything readily available or if it's a 12-week+ wait for a custom build.

As it stands the car is £19,995 after the SEAT £1k contribution, no SEAT Sound in this particular one but has Convenience Pack Plus instead and is MY16 with the 6.5" nav unit.

May call DTD tomorrow to see what they have but there's a little voice in me wondering if the convenience of a local dealer is worth a little extra rather than having someone drive it down for a drop-off or having to travel a yet-unknown distance to collect.

Need some sensible balanced opinions to counteract the childish excitement I have of the car having driven it now :funk:

Hi all,

I'm getting very tempted by a Leon SC FR, 1.4 TSI with the 18" performance alloys etc.

Was originally looking for an ex demo or similar but they seem pretty hard to find so considering a new one on 0% finance. Seems better than putting up a large sum upfront although does mean new car cost and depreciation.

That said the ex-demo cars I've seen aren't that cheap (around £15k) and in poor condition with kerbed wheels, interior damage, smoked in etc.

Just wondering what kind of deals people have got on new models and any tips on haggling? So far it's looking around 20k for:

- 1.4 TSI ACT engine
- tech pack with LED lights, nav etc.
- spare wheel
- white paint

I think I need to get a good price seeing as there's a facelift already out in camouflage. I would wait a bit longer for end of quarter but my current motor will need a service, tyres and MOT soon which will be dead money if I wait too long to trade in.

What's the best deals you've had on new models? I hear 10-15% off list should be a given which seems to be where I'm at now (list of 22k down to 20k plus 1k from Seat finance). Can I do better?

That particular model is listed here at £199 for 42 months, with only a grand up front. I’d be quick though as their pool is running low of these ones:

Can't post URL, Google "The SEAT Leon FR Black is packed with attitude and style." at JCT600

I think this model sheds 15PS off the typical 1.4 FR but I could be wrong but obviously you get some extras for that.

Interesting, wonder if they're all 5dr or if there's any SC variants. Downside is black wheels, never been a fan of dark alloys has to be shiny shiny for me

I’ve not seen an SC variant of that Black Special, the black alloys look really nice upfront.

You'll have the car for a couple of years, or more, so I'd get the car you want rather than compromising simply to save a day out?
[If you put a location in your profile it might help, someone may know a good local dealer etc]. HTH

I think the "Black" is 125ps vs 150ps for the regular FR. The 150ps I'd describe as "spritely" or "nibble", not sure I'd want any less power?

Profile updated, tried Colchester as recommended on the CarWow quote, helpful on the phone and little bit cheaper but not DTD-cheaper. To get near the DTD prices I imagine is going to be from dealers much further away with lower operating costs (hope I'm wrong).

It's not so much the day out bit but more relationship with supplier should any work need doing. Not sure what reaction I'll get come warranty \ service time bringing a DTD car to another dealer?

I liked the feel of the 150ps today so probably best to stick with it as wanting a bit more oomph is partially why I'm trading in the current motor.

There shouldn't be any issues regarding warranty/servicing work. The service and sales parts of most dealerships are largely separate so I doubt they'd even be aware of where the vehicle was purchased, let alone care (one more reason to have no dealer stickers on your car:D).

I've had warranty work done on a VW and Audi previously, no questions asked, and both of those were personal imports from Germany.

I suspect that DTD use the same dealer frequently, in which case they're not far from you. I can't be more specific because it's a condition of the sales agreement not to disclose that info. HTH

Another little update...

Seems that the DTD SEAT dealer isn't too far away at all so that's another reason to go with them, adjusted my spec now to add a few more toys:

- Nevada White metallic paint
- Full Link
- Convenience Pack Plus
- SEAT Sound system

Comes to £18300 or thereabouts. The caveat is it has to be a cash deal, no p\x
Car would be a custom build so 12-14 weeks (boo!)

Having read around as expected WeBuyAnyCar \ WeWantAnyCar are sharks so don't really want to deal with them. Private sale isn't really something I want to do but saw some recommendations online for Southern Car Buyers.

Just done a quote with them and been offered the same as the top end p\x price from the SEAT dealers, also comes in above CAP and Parkers so looks like a decent deal.

Certainly a different way to the usual to buy and sell cars, if it works out well I could end up making some substantial savings over the standard dealer route, just need to be brave about it and start the ball rolling:whistle:

Good luck with your potential purchase let us know what you decide, I will definitely be going down the broker deal as the savings are huge, like you I have a potential px, I know Carwow and Orangewheels are happy for you to talk to the dealer about px so I will probably go with one of them unless dtd are a lot lot cheaper...

Yup, Leon SC FR Technology Pack as the starting point on DTD :D

What's your full pricing per month if you don’t mind? Also presuming you’re talking about just Bluetooth standard streaming etc without the Full Link because that’s standard with all trims.

I'm adding Full Link on top of the Tech Pack as I want the Android Auto functionality (or CarPlay for the Apple fans lol). Pretty much the sole reason I want an MY16 car.

I can tweak the deposit contribution to get it down to around £200 a month, £250-ish with the 50% contribution.

DTD are over £1k cheaper than CarWow so it's significant saving. Had a good quote on my current car from Southern Car Buyers so now I have a choice...

a) take the good trade in price and take the Leon that's in stock, basically means losing the SEAT Sound system but can probably have the whole deal signed and sealed in the next week or two

b) have the exact spec Leon I want but likely have to pay out more for MOT and service on current car, wait over 3 months for delivery (Xmas and New Year) and take delivery of a new car in the depths of winter

I'm torn between the convenience of a) vs what I'm imaging the extra SQ of b) may be. That said I've got a wheel well sub in my other car and it's not an earth shattering difference.

Also seen someone has retro fitted the sub so that could be an option too, granted the centre midbass can't be done easily but doubt that making a huge difference.

Hmmmm decisions...

Just to let you know I finally took the plunge and ordered the SC :funk:

Via DTD and with the 0% £1000 offer it's £17,750 or thereabouts. Went for the car that's available so basically left the SEAT Sound (heard it last week and it didn't blow me away so I think the FR system will be OK).

Dealer reckons car may be with them on Monday then just a few days to wait until pick up time... can't wait now I've done the hard part and said farewell to my C30 today.
