i had leather buckets in my old st220. they were nice. but i was surprised with how bucketlike the standard seats were in the cupra so i got one with those instead (that and the buckets seem to be pretty rare for a 2nd hand cupra mk3).
the alacantararaarsrsa or whatever its called is surprisingly comfy too. much more so than the leather.

I like to give credit where its due, my dealer acted swiftly and knew all of the options that were available to me. He'd even found some cars that were in transit, that were close to my spec when he rang. In the end, I opted for the full leather instead, which probably isn't a bad thing after I've read reports of the white strip on the Alcantara seats discolouring (or actually gaining colour from peoples clothes).

White strips very easy to clean just mix some Vanish Oxi Action crystal white powder into a paste put some on white strips leave for a few minuets, wipe of with a damp cloth comes up good as new.
Try to keep off leather (If you try this do it at your own risk) got rid of the oil left by the dealers on my seats.

I believe mine are the standard ones. Alcantara with the Cupra name on them and white trim.

For my liking and use they are perfect, although I am sure I would have loved the bucket seats too. I didn't have a choice since I bought mine off the floor.

My opinion is they are worth the extra. The sides of the seats are more supportive than the standard ones. Good for cornering support. There was no electric option when I got mine. I believe the drivers side standard or leather is electric.

You get the embossing on the buckets as well. Something to remind you what you are sitting in.

Hello everyone,

my first post here - I am going to order Cupra 280 and I am thinking about bucket seats. I test drove Cupra with bucket seats and I was satisfied with them, but seller told me, that standard seats are also very good and there is no reason for bucket seats, unless I want to race circuits on regular basis.

So I want to hear some opinions from Cupra users here in forum, both from them who went for bucket seats (are they worth it?) and from them who did not (how does standard seats perform? Will you order them again?).

Thank you for answers!

Standard seat fine for me. Dont forget that seats are a bit like shoes, it all depends on your own personal size, shape weight etc so you may find the standard seats are actually more comfortable?

Thank you all for answers!

It seems like those who went for a standard seats are (mostly) happy with them and also those who went for buckets are also happy with them. The good think about It is that I probably won't be disapointed no matter which one I choose.

Because of price I am now leaning toward (60:40) to save some money and get the standard seats.

I have the full black leather and the seats are manual, not electric.

One point on buckets is consider if you are in and out of the car quite often. They can be a bit of a pain 'climbing' over and around the bolsters. I think they look great and will definitely provide more support but so far i haven't had a problem with the standard leather.

Had some lovely recaro's on my WRX STI but they were tight! Amazing support but i'm 5'10" and 13 stone and could only just fit. Not good for the inset of mid life spread

The electrically adjustable drivers seat is only on 5Dr and ST with the leather.

Another consideration if you have a 5dr (as mine will be) is that the integral headrests on the buckets do rather cut you off from your passengers in the back in my opinion. I'm getting a 5dr with non-bucket seats because I want to be sociable and have passengers :) Also you have a place to bolt your GoPro :D

Hi All,

I have seen a few pics of the Buckets, but some appear to have leather(faux leather) side bolsters and some seem to be entirely Alcantara/Suede can anyone confirm the UK spec please?

Asking as I have been offered a deal on a 280 SC with these fitted (probably wouldnt want them on a 5 door as per James's comments above).

Thanks very much

I think that they buckets are only available in Alcantara and have the white side bolsters.

If they are leather then they aren't the buckets.

Wow. Really? That's dissapointing
I very nearly ordered a new car with the buckets assuming they would be leather
