I'm Looking to install an RNS310 into my 2009 Leon. Can anyone tell me of any problems I'm likely to run into? I've been reading through this thread and everyone seems to have had mixed results.

Can somebody help me, i've just plugged in my Rcd310 into my seat leon 08 57 plate i've done the Safe pin wire so that the headunits got power and everything works ( apart from the FACTORY AUX PORT down by the handbrake.)

The headunit even sees and shows the functions for the facelift climate control i've put in @ the same time, but do i need to re-wire / move a wire in the quad lock thingy that goes into the headunit? so that the headunit sees the Factory AUX PORT?????

I've spent ages lookin on here through threads and am coming up empty..

Thanks

Hello.

I recently purchased a Seat Leon FR Facelift edition. This is my first ever post on this site. I probably would have posted more but luckily I do actually use the search functionality to answers I require and so far I have found this site useful both. In fact I used this site to actually make a decision on what car to go for.

Anyway, my car came with RCD 310. I decided before purchasing the car that I would replace this unit with a RNS 510 as I wanted Sat Nav. I used the various guides on here to install it. It was pretty much plug and play. I got it configured using VCDS so that the directions appear on the MFD.

My phone connects to the RNS 510. I can see my phone book in both the MFD and RNS display. I can dial a number from either the MFD using the steering wheel controls or using the touchscreen on the stereo. There is one major problem which I am currently having. After I have connected my phone and pressing the microphone button on the steering wheel when making a call, I hear nothing. The other person on the phone can hear me (I think) but I cannot hear them. I've tried dialing from the stereo and it is the same issue. Voice control no longer works either by pressing the microphone button on the steering wheel - I don't even hear the womans voice who notifies you the feature has switched on. When I press the star/microphone button on the RNS, the womans voice does come on but the voice commands fail - that is probably because there is no wires in the MIC IN/OUT on the back of the RNS in the loom.

Is there a conflict between the RNS system and the factory bluetooth? What can I do to make sound come out. I have tried using audio streaming over bluetooth and no sound is output either.

I have read somewhere that Leon Factory bluetooth has only one audio output channel - do I need to wire a pair of cables from the bluetooth connector to the back of the RNS?

Just joined and thought I'd mention my solution to replacing the stock radio in preference of a MFD clone.
I went for a DNX520VBT DVD/CD Radio with GPS Receiver and USB/ iPod interface
I considered the MFD option (and I also briefly considered one of those Chinese options on eBay) however I couldn't find one in my budget with a SEAT splash-screen on start-up and also the MFD3's were well expensive and sometimes came with a coding problem.
I installed the Kenwood which worked with the standard supplied cable with no modifications at all. Steering controls worked too. Reception great (one I figured how to plug in the Kenwood lead to power the aerial base). Great units with GARMIN GPS

Thanks for the guide, used it to upgrade my 2009 (pre-facelift) to an rcd310.
No safe pin mod needed, was just plug and play.
my car only has a single fakra antenna connector but the radio has space for a double connector, so i just plugged it into one of the two and it seems to work fine.

I got the factory mounted aux to work by swapping the wires over on the blue block.
(look at the connector diagram on the sticker on the radio, cd- and cd+ need to be moved to aux- and aux+, very easy to do as you can remove wires by just pushing the little pins.

Your lucky, im still not fully sure what it could be. Possibly running different on newer software as i tried the unit in a friends 11 reg passat cc and worked fine

From the tests you have conducted, you have prooved the unit is not defective. The issue is with your CAN in your car. (I think). You will need VCDS to run some diagnostics and need to some coding using VCDS to activate it. I have (although it's rare) heard of a unit not being recognised at all. I could have helped you with this but you are not based in London.

If you can find out the exact Can gateway you require, you will be able to source it from eBay for around £60

Ok. I've tried to find a wiring diagram for that stereo but I have failed. Check the wiring diagram and see if it is similar to the RNS 315. Or if you can, upload a picture of it and I can take a look.

It could be your stereo is knackered. Check the Pins to make sure none of them are bent or broken

it was tested before it was sent supposedly so I am not going to assume it's broken just yet. Il have a look tomorrow. Get my bro to look at it he might have a better idea. If not il put pictures up

I got it fixed...... It was missing a connection in the quadlock so I made up a makeshift connection, and it's working fine now.

Hi everyone.
I'm considering fitting the RNS 315 (integrated Bluetooth) to my pre-facelift Leon. I'm aware that I'll need the can bus module to prevent the battery drain issue.
What I'm not too sure about is the MFD behind the steering wheel (it is currently the small red one). In the future I may upgrade it to the high line display to make full use of the RNS 310's satnav ability. I've heard that because I have a pre facelift model, I'll only be able to use the red MFD display rather than the white one.
Any advice?
Also, any idea what will happen with the steering wheel controls?

Edit: after a bit more reading, I think I've confused myself even further on the battery drain issue. Can anyone clear it up for definite?
