Funnily enough, I believe my bonnet is one of 2 or 3 made in Sweden. I know the chap that has the tailgate and has the leftover tooling to make the tailgate

That would be Michel Dammfors. Problem is that Kristian that made the the mould's and actual carbon fiber parts is no more in the business. Michel is willing to lend out the moulds if someone with proper know how can do the parts.

Indeed it is Michel. I may put the company in touch with Michel, when he replies to my message to see if he minds. I'm not sure if it would reduce the cost much but in theory it should

Only thing with that is Michel mentioned the quality of his tailgate wasn't 100% and when he came to England he didn't have it fitted so I couldn't decide for myself.

Main reason for him not fitting it was the fact that the bass from his audio system would blast off the hatch in no time =) .

But if the quality of the hatch is not 100% you can question if the mould is to any use. Maybe the mould is bad an therefore it would be better of to create a new one...

spare wheel, tool kit and jack remove
Rear head rests remove
Inside grab handles swapped for blanking covers-where from?
Rear wiper and motor removed-done
is this worth doing for a general road car?

Installing cf doors will not really keep you safe. But that is not my intentions with my project.

Just a thought, the standard doors are tough as boots and I'm grateful for it. Saving weight at the cost of occupant safety is a no from me.

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but its a very interesting topic. A guy in the Netherlands went all out to get the best fuel economy out of his Golf MK4 1.9 TDI.
