Decided to install my new W8 light but not yet wired into dimmer as I can't get a definite answer on which wire to connect it to.
New Grey light:

Wires & plug:

Have ordered 4 new LED bulbs to compliment the rest of the interior.
Will a couple more pics in morning of the light installed

From memory (so don't trust 100% until I can check!) it's the second top wire in the back of the dimmer switch - possibly grey with blue tracer?

I can confirm it tonight though :)

yeah i saw that dude sits lovley, was just wondering about speed hump clearance/curbs etc

It's ok for getting over speed humps, we have both kinds around my area (the rubber sharp angled type & the normal smooth Tarmac ones). As for the curbs, I try to reverse into spaces as the splitter hits the curbs :(

Looks awesome mate and a great guide. The wire behind the headlight switch that you cut for the extension wire, is the not needed anymore? So you can just cut the wire before the plug and crimp the extension wire to it? You got the part number for the w8 light? I'm loving all these subtle mods your doing btw. Cheers Bruce

Cheers for the comments ;)
Sorry if I've confused the matter but I spliced the extension wire into the blue/white wire (I cut the wire, crimped one end then put both extension wire + other end of blue/white wire into crimp)
Didn't think the pic was tut bad!!!!!

Ok folks I've now got the illuminated air vents installed and working :D
Must say they do look good and should have been in as standard !
Here's a few pics and a how to:
Hook I used to pull out my original vents:

The side vents literally pull out with no hassle, however, the centre vent was a bit more of a pain but using the hook and a flat tip screwdriver it came out.

I searched various forums and this was the easiest home made loom I could find:

Have put a couple of pics in the posts above. I also crimped new connectors onto each vent.

I didn't take any pics of the following but I removed both end covers from either end of the dash, removed the fuses, the radio and also the glovebox - this made it much easier to pull the loom into position.
I used a cable phish to pull the loom in through the drivers side.
I then made a hole in each of the air ducts using a taper punch - this is to allow the cables to go through.
With the cables pushed through the holes, I connected blacks to blacks then reds to reds. I used a splice connector to connect the live into the light switch dimmer and connected the black to an earth point at the drivers side.
Think I'll take more pic 2moro and continue this :funk:;)

yh a lot of the time its a bit depressing cos they forget Scotland is bigger than the central belt !! perth would suit as both north and south meet in the middle ....... or aviemore would be better nd a goot trip for both ends !!
