Good luck with final few weeks, hope it all goes smoothly for you all.

Great to hear the love is back. Now looking forward to a banging update once you get some time to work on the car :)

Good luck and enjoy these weeks.... ALL CHANGE IS COMING!

I can't remember the last time I thought about the car except whether I can get the next size recaro baby seat in it.

I wish I could say I still have time to enjoy the LCR but instead I look at which fast estate will keep my interest or 5 door Quattro based Audi will be safest haha

Thinking of you in these final weeks!

Ready for the road...

With the house move finally here, I got the car out of the garage and got her ready for the road trip to sunny Norfolk… Usual stuff really. Here are a few shots as she stands…

I forgot how nice the car looks and sits at the moment. Can’t wait to drive the car now :D

Thanks everyone for the positive comments. I was amazed with how well the car came out in the photos. The new DSLR is an awesome bit of kit. The above photos weren't edited before, so wow.

The car drove so well to its new home on Monday evening. House move has gone swimmingly... Just box after box... Paint tin after paint tin... Trying to get as much done before our first born arrives. Three weeks or so away now! Yikes! The car will get some TLC in the months ahead, and hopefully the thread will be a more exciting one... :)

42 Design Gear Linkage Solid Bush Kit

Again, thanks for the all the positive comments! It means a great deal, so thank you :)

With the house pretty much unpacked now and the baby’s furniture put up, I was allowed some time on the car this afternoon. Just as I started, the sun came out and I really enjoyed tinkering today!!!

The main things on the agenda today were to fit the 42 Design gear linkage mounts that I’ve had sat in the boot since Jan, and to re-adjust the Forge Short Shifter’s throw from 40% to 30% reduction, as 2nd to 3rd gear is known to be a bit clunky when at max throw, so I was hoping that this would help things.

So, the instructions for the bushes are really easy to follow, and it was such a simple job! My mechanic sprayed white grease on the linkages at its last service last year [:@] and I’ve hated its messy look ever since (show queen I know… I’ve heard myself…). So, in addition to the other jobs, I wanted to clean up the gearbox area too.

Gear linkages removed and cleaned…

Old bushes removed….

Note: The OEM front to back bush was fully perished with loads of play. The OEM side to side bush was solid and with no play.

New ones fitted…

With both done, I decided to remove my shifter as it was all greased up. It’s been on for the past 4/5 years and so I decided to repaint it as it looked tired…

Stripped back… Shame I couldn’t polish it; looks like the bare metal would rust quite easily. Boo…

Primed and painted in Silver…

With the gearbox cleaned up as best as I could get it, everything was re-fitted.

Initial impressions are that, WOW! Precise and with no clunks! Feels immense in comparison to what it did before. £27 so well spent! I would recommend this to anybody. Such an easy job, and as long as you follow the instructions, it’s fool proof.

If I have time next Sat, I’m going to service the Static+ modules, clean the wheel wells/suspension and then that should be good for the spring/summer months. I’m probably going to put it on axle stands and remove the floor so that I can do an oil change too. I’ve got everything apart from the oil so I’ll place my order with Opie and hopefully it’ll be with me so that I can get this done too.

Finally…

I have a Powerflex Dog Bone mount. Is this worth fitting? Did anyone who has it fitted find any increase in cabin vibrations? With the floor off, I may as well do it hadn’t I? Any guidance on reviews/fitting tips would be greatly appreciated.

Great afternoons work there mate :) The short shifter looks great for a new coat of paint.

I'm glad you're happy with the bushes. They're a great upgrade for the money! It's good to know you've replaced the bushes as time goes on with any car. I've been really pleased with my linkage bushings and the feel they give just as much as the poly bushing underneath the car.

On the Powerflex dog bone mount... do you currently have the standard setup? You'll notice increased cabin vibrations at first but these do calm down back to pretty much oem feel after you've clocked up a couple of hundred miles, sometimes less depending on how it's been fitted.

One note and I don't want to put you off - I used to run the Powerflex dog bone bush, but it was replaced by AmD for the SuperPro version when I got the whole bush kit done. Now my Powerflex one was in a pretty bad way when it came off, it had perished a bit, which did surprise me if I'm honest. It was never fitted at AmD the Powerflex, so I'm not sure if maybe it was on too tight or something but I thought I'd let you know of my experience. My friend fitted my Powerflex and I do remember him saying they have to be torque'd on just right.

I don't want that to put you off your one. I had my one fitted for 2 years before I replaced it with the SuperPro.
