The MX5 came already modded with lower suspension, roll bar, debadged front end and new exhaust system.
Since I've had it I have:
- Swapped the wheel to a small black momo
- New black gear gaitor
- New handbrake cover
- New headunit
- Personalised plate
- Detango'd the front lights
- Installed front grille
- Got rid of the spare tyre in the boot
- Removed the chrome door strips
- New sidelights, interior lights and Nightbreaker headlights
- Fitted remote central locking
Pretty much all aesthetic mods at the moment, I'm just enjoying the extra speed! Due to the nature of the MX5 market (everything being so cheap!), I'd never get any money back if I decided to turbo the car, so I'd likely sell up and buy an already turbo'd one if I decide mine is too slow.
I drove the
Ibiza before I sold it and to be honest, I much prefer the MX5 because of the acceleration, sound, handling, feedback and general raw-ness. Don't get me wrong, the
Ibiza is a great first car and I enjoyed every minute of owning it, but after driving the MX5, the steering feels quite vague in comparison and everything is too light and airy (gearbox, clutch, steering).
