usually if you get an induction kit or even upgrade the air filter to a green cotton one it sounds better and will probably make it run a bit better too

Non resonated race tubes are on eBay for around £40 and a decat with 3" downpipe is less than £100. Not only will it be louder but will spool up and drive a bit better and also better for re-map potential. Also drilling holes is the stock airbox is a free method to improve grunt along with removing the bonnet lining. But if you want seriously loud then a straight through exhaust is the answer lol.

If you have fitted a 3" downpipe and decat/sport cat then you are better off going for a custom remap. Which is effectively a stage 2 anyways. You might not get the most out of it but a generic stage 1 will only see 210bhp where as a custom map with your setup could get around 225bhp. Maybe a little more or a little less. As already mentioned previously. A less baffled straight through backbox will also help with power and sound.

i just have an induction kit and the noise is loud enough. it grumbles at low revs and sounds ferocious at higher revs, if anything i'd get a backbox too. decat/downpipe are about 80 quid and should make lots of noise and possibly pops n bangs

Difference between decent catback and original exhaust system is huge. Makes you appreciate the car even more when you have it swapped, believe me. You also save weight, because the stock backbox is heavy as f00k!
