Ok little update.

I can't stand the noise anymore so when I finished work early today I took a trip up to monster motorsport in Loughborough.

Let them test drive it to hear the noise and then they got it on the ramps .

No obvious split hose but he said the two neoprone seals that go on the intercooler pipe were not holding too well. Also there was a black mess around them. They said U.iq was the vapour that is normally in the pipe.

SO . I got on the phone to seat leicester and have ordered the two seals. And they should be here Monday so will get them fitted and see from there.

I'm still having the same problem. (Driving me mad, and really can't enjoy my car like I used to do, so this must get sorted soon...)

Do you have picture of that where the "black mess" was, so I can check if I have something similar?

cheers,
Jone

Yeah. And the bloody noise is still there.

It's driving me mad. Monster motorsport reckon the timing could be out by a tooth.

It's going back to have the turbo checked for play and more investigation.

Got to get it sorted......

I heard one thing that I should try new spark plugs to see if it has something to do with ignition...

This really needs to be sorted out

I was getting exactly the same noise, took my cupra for its 30K service and it came back minus the noise but also the remap.

The noise also started after the remap but I guess my info is no use as you dont have a remap

I think I'm going for Denso IK20 Iridium power plugs, they are around 15€ each... So byebye 60€...

So after 3 months of breezy winter I finally changed the plugs and now it's been one week since I installed them. I checked the old plugs and saw some wear in them (the gap was bigger than in the new ones also).

Guess what??!!?? The :censored:*ng noise seems to be gone now! It all might have been ignition problem after all (spark blowout under heavy stress)!

Today I took my cupra r for a spin to see if I still notice the noise if I really try to push it. No noise whatsoever, I'm a happy man now! :funk:

Now I just keep driving and let's see if it doesn't come back (fingers crossed).

Glad to hear you sorted yours.

Which plugs did you use in the end....

My noise started after a service.. could they have put wrong plugs in or not spaced them properly ???

I did use the Denso IK20 Iridium power plugs.

If they changed the plugs at the service then you should check the plugs out first.

btw. I also noticed improvement at the way that car idles. Now it's much smoother.

It was a 40k service so plugs should have been changed.

Was your noise similar to mine.

Do you think they the garage could have done some thing wrong putting them in.

How much did you pay for your plugs and were did you get them

Sorry for all the questions

Maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel .......

I would never have guessed that to be honest....
I may have come to a lot of options but I'd never have suspected the plugs.

I am having a problem with my 57plate cupra.

It is making a whislting noise when on WOT it starts at 3,000 rpm .It is making a bit of a fluttery noise as well, Its not the turbo and it was not doing it before this week so i am a bit confused??

It only does it when you give it full beans.

I have just got my replacement dv from sere and it is not that as it is still making the same noise.:censored::censored:

I have uploaded a video to give you an idea of it ,

http://s819.photobucket.com/albums/zz112/crigisback/Cupra/?action=view&current=VIDEO0007.mp4

Any ideas??:help:

Thanks in advance for your help

Well, have you found anything yet? I accidentally stumbled on this thread and after viewing the video I remembered that I noticed a very similar noise in my car under similar circumstances (as others did - see the following thread: http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=329942)
The noise in my car was quite similar but barely noticeable. I don't know if yours is loud, in the video it doesn't seem to be that strong.
My car is tuned (stg 1) and I used to hear this noise with the highest (9) boost settings. I am on high boost settings even now (Boost 8) but it's been a while I haven't heard anything - or perhaps I am not as observant as I was...
Boost leak was proposed as a cause in that thread too.
My brother (whose car - a Leon Mk1 1.8T - is also tuned) listened to the noise and said it was quite similar to a noise he noticed in his car, probably coming from the turbocharger. Please note that I didn't have any loss of power, at least not any that I can feel.
