Mo grats on a fantastic job mate. I've been on the modding scene for 13 years ish and this is up there with some of best project threads i've seen . You've completely transformed the car from mundane to insane. And done it all yourself instead of throwing money at somebody to do it for you. And along the way put the time and effort into making little guides too. This has really given me the tuning bug and cant wait to pick up my Leon FR next week.

Kudos, keep it up.

Do prefer these wheels

Yeah they do really suite the car maybe because they were designed for the face-lift to go with the face-lift or perhaps its because of the bigger tyres.

Thank you very much for your kinds words Steve, really appreciate them, makes it that little more worth while. I'm glad that my readers ride thread inspired you to go the distance with your motor, I'm sure it's a nice one. Get a readers ride thread sorted as soon as you can.

hey mo, gotta say this thread has been a good and educational read. and has inspired me. i started reading your thread 2 weeks ago but flicked through as i didnt think i would bother with upgrading much but after a good complete read i have spent £££ on all the necessary upgrades to at least get me to a custom stage 2. you must be a really fussy person or a perfectionist. both compliments when it comes to the outcome of your car. im lucky to already have the facelift bumpers but i need to give the bodywork some tlc. i will definately be doing my own rr after reading yours and i hope if and when i get stuck i can ask you for advice.

thanks for a excellent guides and pictures.

Thank you Aaron for your kind comments, means a lot, I'm happy to have inspired / helped you with your car, believe me, it's well worth the time, effort and money!

Sadly it's up for sale now, I've decided it's time to move on  It hurts a fair bit letting her go after the amount of hours, effort and money I've thrown at it.

so whats your next project going to be then?

im afraid ill do the same thing. ill do it up till i cant do no more and then ill want to start again. :D

I'm not too sure yet Aaron, I'm waiting for the weather to turn around, and then maybe I can get my hands dirty again. I'll always have the bug!

im 100% sure on my next project. (money and time permiting) is to pick up a e36 m3 evo. ill probably keep the cupra for the missus but i want to do a m3 twin turbo conversion. i have a few m8s in the know how on these projects and with some good spent money ill be able to see well over 700bhp. but befor i go down the power route ill be concentrating on getting it back to factory condition. it will be a long and expensive project but its my childhood dream.

Hi mo I've got the toyo FMIC exactly the same as yours, can I ask, did it come with the mounting L shaped brackets as mine didn't. Thanks. Gareth

Hi Mo, your car looks mustard mate and a quality write up, can you do me a favor and email any pics you've got on how to bolt the side skirts to your car to [email protected]. Any help would be appreciated, cheers mate

Exactly what part are you stuck on?

I bought / had some of my own brackets mate, cheap as chips from any tool shop, I've even seen these in local pound shops. To answer you question yes they did come with the brackets.

I don't have any left mate, but seriously pop around any high street pound shop and look at the cheapo DIY section, they are always there!

Some minor? update

Got myself a Liquidgauge:

it was the stand-alone liquid-cube version, Race diagnostics told me it was near impossible to dismantle this, and emails went back and forth, one of them:

Hi

Tricky but possible, you would need to melt the glue so it is soft but not runny. You would not want the glue on the screen, heat to about 90 deg in an oven and try to pick out the softened glue.

Hi,

As I said it will not be easy. It is glued in with a combination of heat glue, and silicone glue, I would say that the chances of doing this without damaging the screen are less than 50/50, I would be tempted to cut through the aluminium box to separate the front surface and then heat and cut/prise off.

SWGmotorsport make the inserts so best to go to them and save paying the margin twice.

Jim

50/50 eh? so I though why not ask how much the peice of plastic costs to fit / mount this in the ait vent.... and that went like this:

Hi Mo,

The new fascias arrived today.

Please send £45 via paypal to the address above and I will send one down to you.

Or send £60 via paypal and send your PCB to me and I will fit it for you. Please be aware that as the fascias are hand made every one needs some adjustment to make the pcb fit.

Best regards
Jim

So I thought, hmmm .... like F am I paying £60 for what is just a hollowed out air vent which you can get from the scrappers for around £2-5 quid and set out on a small journey:

Impossible to dismantle eh?:

A bit of Dremel action again (I love this tool)

A bit of glue gun to hold everything in place

And some heavy duty fibre-glassing:

Loads of sanding, a couple of licks of paint:

Personally I think mine looks better in the flash than the pre-made one which still has the heater controls on it for some odd reason.

It's very difficult attending to the car these day's with two little babies needing our attention, but I do get a chance, I can showcase some of my skills [B)]
