Large speed readout on MFD

Yeah, I know about the indicator thing, but the golf had a checkbox on the MFD which looked slightly more convenient than waggling indicator stalks about . I'm certain that this option isn't present in my MFD menus.

Mines an early MY2010 FR, the menu option could well have appeared on more recent models?

Out of interest has anybody tried engaging cruise control whilst the large speed readout is displayed?

My mates Scirocco displays the speed the cruise has been set at where the temperature is at the bottom when engaged and I was wondering if this did the same, or if more fiddling will be required?

I've seen the option to enable cruise display in VCDS but haven't tried it (yet), might give it a bash tomorrow. It's in the adaptions I think!!

I was wrong when I said that it takes the place of the temperature, it actually takes the place of the trip counter in the bottom left of the screen. From what I have found out it only shows the cruise speed when the vehicle is moving, reverting back to the trip counter when stationary.

I really need to find my cable to try a few of these new VCDS discoveries out

Yip, took the car out for a spin but there was no change to the MFD, on all screens.

It could be a Windows 7 compatability problem, what version of the lead / VagCom are you running.

Version 10.6.4 works OK for me on Windows 7.

i installed the one that came in the cd VAG-COM Release 409-1, and when i clicked on it it wont work, so i downloaded VCDS Beta 11.10, and yet still nothing

It came with my cable on a good old fashioned CD. I think the software is linked to the cable in someway. I was told only to ever use 10.6.4 with my cable even though there are newer versions.

hmm, my one wont load so i had to download the vcds, cuz mine only came with VAG-COM Release 409-1

409 will not work with windows 7 and 409 cable is not compatible with V 8 software and upwards.

If you are not using a genuine cable and run the official software you can brick your cable.

Thanks for your input but that cable was suggested to me, on here and I didn't just pay over £30, just to not use it.

I can't recall the exact menu or option but there is another thing you need to enable (or disable..?) on one of the MFD menus to get the digital speedo to appear..sorry I can't be more specific mate but don't have my car handy to check. Would think it should be the same on a Supercopa..
