The op just completely doesnt get it. 100% with nath all the way through the thread. Saw a 1.6tdi the other day in Gateshead with an fr badge on it...cudnt get a pic of it due to driving. [:@]

Wow how did I miss this thread.

Anyway I don't think the issue was what was said it was the amount of grief that the op instantly got for it which puzzled me.

Fair enough people have a point which most can agree with, but was there a need for the points to be put over so aggressively/condescendingly? some comments came across a bit haughty as well.

OP didn't help himself with the don't post on my comments line though lol

this thread is pathetic......poor guy only asked about mudflaps. Then got flamed cos he had a piece of plastic on his car that some members didn't like. What a terrible crime! Call the firing squad........oh no, wait, the 'mature' members have taken care of him!

And who exactly gave him the advice on his mudflaps?

And who exactly gave him the advice on his mudflaps?

The advice you gave him was bang on, and i'm sure he was grateful to you. But i bet he regretted posting up a picture of the finished article! It was from this point on that the thread went downhill. I'll admit I carried on reading it and some of the pictures in the posts did make me laugh. But the overall tone of the way the guy was treated was pretty low and not in the spirit of what is normally a very friendly forum.

The tone only went down because of the OP's complete ignorance of what he had done.

The tone of the overall thread did yeah but as soon as Nath saw the badge he went for the kill without mercy lol and I thought the same point could have been a put across better. Just my 2 pence worth not trying to have a go at Nath or anyone else. It's all irrelevant now anyway and made for a good read at work.

More favorite comment of the thread was this though:

Those flaps look gash. Still, they fit with the lights ;)

why?...because it's exactly what I thought.

Saw this guy earlier with a VXR badge stuck on the bacl of what clearly isn't a VXR. Unfortunately you can't really see it in the pic (crap camera phone).

They look good, but I can see what the others mean on them looking like they've come up a bit small. I was thinking of mud flaps myself but not sure if they would look alright with the BTCC kit. I've read in some places that you can't fit them/they look a bit silly with the kit. Then it would be finding someone to help me fit them!

And yes, I'm just ignoring all the rubbish that started to happen after the orginal mud flaps talk. Mainly because I wouldn't be able to come up with as many witting things as others! But also because like others have said...it's his car. His choice.

Fair point...ha ha - 'OK then, I won't go into it too much' probably would have been better...

Couldn't help but feel a little sorry for the poor kid who posted the thread. All he/she wanted was a little advice on some mud flaps (which was provided I suppose) but got torn to shreds for putting an FR badge on his car.

Seat must have read the thread and thought it was a great idea, as they have done the same as this lad and stuck an FR badge on almost every Leon in the range? Better start abusing Seat aswell fellas.
