REVO on Cupra Questions

Hi i know this has kind of being covered before but didnt see any define answers to my questions.

Could any one with REVO on a 60 plate Cupra let me know the answers to the following questions:

1. Does revo make the car more driveable lower down the rev range as it seems like I have to get it above 3000 rpm to keep it buzzing up hills? I used to drive a FR TDI and that was great at lower revs up hills so want to make it a little more like that.

2. Any things I should change before STG1, e.g. plugs, DV etc?

3. Clutch OK with STG1?, I am a careful clutch user.

4. Is there any extra noise from the turbo with the remap?

5. Is the pull after 4-5000 rpm greater with the remap?

Thanks

OK got STG1 REVO installed (awesome by the way!) - B7 T5 F9. Logs look ok.

But a question, when giving it the beans and you shift into 4th and put your foot down it makes a loud squeel/whistle noise and does so for the rest of the gears (3rd or less and it doesnt make that noise).

I know you get more turbo noise with REVO but would a loud (quite noticable) whistle / squeel sound normal?

If I up the boost to 9 it is more noticable. I know you get flutter which is the DV doing its job and that is fine I can hear that too but that is normal but I am a little concerned about the loud whistle.

i think you have answered your own question mate
B9 is the highest boost setting , so if you up your boost to the highest setting then you get more boost noise. simples ;)

Ok so hopefully this is normal. It sounds a bit like when touring cars hit the brakes, its like that kind of whistle/squeel.

Also does more boost = more BHP headline figure, i know if you up the boost then it will tail off quicker, i have done the logs and can see this happening where as at boost 6/7 you can see that it holds a steady boost for longer.

Maybe you have a slight boost leak which has shown up more since mapped?
I can't comment on Revo on a Cupra but my Revo FR didn't squeal.
Unless you have an intake fitted do you?

Totally standard apart from REVO map.

Best way to check for boost leak? Logs against requested and actual

If i knock the boost down to 6 then no squeal

Yeah logs requested and actual.
From what you describe it sound like a boost leak to me. The intercooler hoses use a snap fit connection so may be worth checking they are fully seated.
Just an idea

This is the requested vs actual in 4th gear with the following settings B7 T5 F9. Guessing the turbo is spooling at the beginning of the graph which is why it is way off the requested.

Well, I noticed a similar sound when I tuned mine (LCR) recently. Same thing, it is noticeable when on 4th - 5th gear (I am not sure about foot-down pulls on 6th gear, as I rarely try any). When on 3rd gear I think the noise of the engine probably overlaps that sound, which is always there. It was loud when on B9 and it is less noticeable (but always present) now that I am on B7. I stopped worrying when my brother (I guy well-informed on the whole subject) heard the noise and told me that it is exactly the same as the one produced by his own Seat Leon Mk1 (1.8T), already tuned by APR. So it is most probably produced by the turbocharger and... I may walk in peace!

Hi guys, i've been searching the threads trying to find out what i need to do to get 300 bhp out of my 08 cupra. (which i pick up on Thursday and can't wait). I know a remap and an induction kiy are a start but i don't really want to spend big money on noisy exhausts. What power does a standard map give?

you just need a remap , Revo , p torque , giac , i think bluefin gives slightly less around 280ish.

with a map you will hit the 300 bhp mate

I owned 2 Cupra tuned by different tuners and both make the same sound, it was worrying the first time then I got used to it, and then Loved it :)

Done a few logs as I intermittently get a flat spot at around 5700rpm ish with stage 1.

Didnt do it on any of the logs tonight.

What do you think.

Currently running: B6 T5 F9 - with VPower and outside temp of 9 degrees

Does timing look ok (the 2nd log was done last so may have slightly higher temps). Air flow looks fine and working out roughly using the Air Flow / 0.8 I should be getting around 308bhp (roughly)

I think the fueling look too low: specified vs actual.... is this normal on a standard pump?
