Just got the car back.

They said the pipes are fine and can't see a problem. They reckon that as I have no loss of power and it drives ok I should leave it and just listen out for it getting worse.

What do you guys think

That was THE answer I was afraid of... It either goes BOOOM after a while OR it just sounds funny and you drive happily ever after... As I'm having the same noise and no help whatsoever.

The most reasonable explanation was about "wastegate flutter" that is not harmful

I'm sticking with gaskets. They'd have to have pulled the exhaust system to bits and manually checked all the gaskets for evidence of leakage...I'm not convinced they did that. Are you?
Even though the pipes look very well connected doesn't mean there isn't a gasket that is leaking.

Sorry to stick to my guns on this one. It just seems too similar to what I've personally experienced. Same rev range and all. Same sound.

Hope that's all it is. If it is, you're in no danger of anything getting damaged.

they did not check anything of the exhaust as i could see the bloke in the workshop doing it.

I may get the exhaust checked else were, is it just a case of undoing the four bolts and then having a look at the gasket, is it best to replace with a new one even if it looks fine??

Can do, they're cheap cheap. Just thin pieces of heat resistant metal really. But a good look at the gasket will show a leak quite obviously if it's on the exhaust. You'll see a stream (kinda triangle-shape) of soot going from the hole to the edge. Quick check.
If it's not that then you know it'll be more towards the intake or turbo.

I think i may get it checked out at the garage and get them to replace the gaskets.

Worth it just to say its not that and narrow down the problem to another area!!!

i think you just need to be methodical , look at the areas and parts that have been changed or loosen when the work was done , it could something as simple as something vibrating which was not done up tight enough or not put back on properly.

its probably something that you have overlooked.
rattles can be a pain in the ass to find.
be patient you will find it.

Could it be a split or air leak in the air filter box. Reason being is my standard box has been removed on my 2.0 FR TFSI and replaced my an induction kit which causes a very similar sound a thought a pipe or fitting my be loose. These threads have made me paranoid about any little click on te car now it's not doing me good haha

I have the same sound at high revs on my tdi sport (pd130). I thought turbo was packing up but no loss of power so far

Hopefully it will be gaskets. Ive been dreading my turbo failing but powerwise the car seems to be fine.
Due to yours being alot newer it assures me its most likely something minor thats causing it

I have the same noise, on my Leon Cupra TDi, that I got last weekend, and noticed noise this weekend. Spoken to a machanic mate who suspects a dodgy bearing in air conditioning unit. Any ideas guys?

I hope it will be covered on the 3 month warranty, as bought from a dealer

I think they're full of **** to be honest. If I went into a garage and they said to me that I just needed to leave it and see if the noise gets worse I'd tell them to have another look at it.

it's not going to make a strange noise for no reason is it?

It's really annoying me now.

I am taking it to a mate who is a mechanic this week for a second opinion.

I can't live with rattles and noises

had another qualified mechanic with me who thinks it's a leak somewhere. Driving me round the bend, is louder today than last night

Any update on this? I have exactly the same sound but it only starting happening after the dealer changed the MAF and I had a remap at the same time. I also have a forge spacer and DV

That second clip on youtube is turbo flutter, you normally only hear it with remap and atmospheric dump valve,
