Right i have tried to take a picture of what i'm gonna try to explain but some reason it's not letting me connect my camera to my pc, so i'd someone to go and take a pic of it for me to see if it is normal.

Past couple of days i've noticed my brakes being a bit squeeky when coming to a stop (only sometimes though), and that they are quite noising when the radio is off, like a grinding noise, also i get a small clunk when reversing and applying the brakes, does not do this when going forward though?

I had a look around the pad and caliper with the wheel on and noticed that my front brake pads are only touching on the inner part of the pad, and the rest is sort of angled away from the disc, could someone please take a pic of this for me to see if it is normal? in the mean time i'll try and get my camera to work with my pc,

I get a clunk when reversing with my brakes aswell... was told by the people who put the brakes on that its nothing to worry about. With regards to the pads i will try and take a look at mine for you.

EDIT: the pad doesnt look right though... it looks like its wearing unevenly to me... maybe a warped disc? something stuck between them?

Yeh i see what you mean mate, would be good if someone could take a pic of theirs so i can compare them both together

Would this be a warrenty issue as it's still on original pads and disks?

Can u jack it up and move the wheel round slowly to see if it rubs? or if there is any movement in the wheel?

Look for rubbing i.e warping as it moves around also if possible get someone to press on the brake pedal...does the pad clamp on the disc evenly when pressed? (if no help is at hand use that technical thing called a brick to depress the peddle :whistle:) try doing this and moving the wheel after each press. Also once jacked up if you can get the wheel to spin a fair bit u could listin for rubbing and see the fact that it slows down quite quickly.

Is it just the one side then?

Pads are always tapered/angled at the sides, this is so there is more surface area touching the disc as the meat gets worn down. It is to stop the pad meat over-heating and creating brake fade

No it is both sides,

think i'm going to book it in Seat for the clunking noise

Ah i think i know what you mean, tapered at the top and bottom of the pad

Bumping an old thread as just noticed this on my FR when I was looking at some scoring on the front nearside disc. Thought my pads were also borked and not wearing evenly but it appears that they're supposed to be tapered.

Just in case anyone else was wondering! :)

if your discs are scored, i would look into what caused it . . .

and when you come to replace, make sure you replace both disc and pads.

It's just the front nearside wheel disc. Looks like a stone or bit of grit has got caught in there at some point. Will get it changed anyway though.
