What the lads in the workshop, last time they are no way careful enough to go near my car one of them fitted a brand new wheel and chipped the pain on the disc. They are too used to smelly trucks and throwing things round. Getting any work done on crs is a nightmare as the workshop runs 24 7 with them starting at 6 am finishing at 2 they hardly wanna stay on to fix cars anyway. None of them are into cars they all drive old cars and they can never be arsed to fix them. Took me a month to get my air con re gassed.

Headlining looks crap so i got a new one but can't find anyone to do it, i tried to fit gas bonnet strut yesterday on my own involving taking bonnet hinges off with no one to hold the other side. The bolts are loctighted on appararntly when I screwed them back in they eventually started spinning took it out and the bolt started to thread! Any ideas? I now got a bonnet that cannot be raised very easily!

It's more cos it is 24 7 thing at work so always in someone's way (we only have 5 bays you can fit 2 small truck in one bay or one truck and trailer on one bay, including 1 pit/MOT lane) or no space they don't really know how much stuff I 'attempt' lol to do on my car they did not even realise it was a diesel til a few months ago lol!
Have set up in 2 weeks to get a mate met through here years ago to help me with a few bits, he is a mechanic and just got all his tool moved back to his parents place and needs some cash so will help me for a few quid and he gets the car modding thing he had a LCR now got a polo. Hopefully angry face will be gone and happy face back again.

yeh why I gonna try this bike muc off stuff plus I do have a life cannot be jacking the car up cleaning then spraying the suspension every month!

You dont need to be doing it every month! If you paint the struts themselves up with some decent quality paint, like engine lacquer or something it'll stop the struts themselves from rusting - if they aren't stainless. As for the threads themselves, wrap them in denso tape, keeps the threads clean and will stick on for ages!!!! I used to clean the springs up and spray them with like an alloy wheel sealant. Just helps stuff from eating them through. Doesnt look great, but you dont see them anyway so dont really matter!

As Vrooooomtsh said, the bottom spring is obviously meant to be compressed, it's only a helper spring. But I'm sure Adam would be aware of this?
