I had my FR170 for 4 weeks, then swapped it for the FR DSG Petrol (And lost £3k). DPF so annoying, people should start ringing watchdog lol.

Unfortunately its not just SEAT

All of the VAG Range that offer Diesels ( Skoda,SEAT,VW and Audi) have had the same problems with the PD170, WHY?

Because the PD Engines wernt designed to have the DPF Fitted, This is why VAG has now started using the CR Engines as they where designed to have DPF Fitted

A lad I work with reckon VAG were tight and didn't use the CR injection earlier when they should of. is that right or is the little gimp talking crap??

CR Engines have been around for a fair few years now mum and dad have a CR Powered Laguna on an 03 plate , it seems VAG didnt want to use CR and they decided to around 2007ish

i imagine he's talking crap, i heard the PD's were a much more complicated system compared to the Common Rail thats probably why the dpf's dont work on them. The way i see it was that the VAG were being clever with their PD's (cos lets face it if you were going to buy a diesel from the sort of year 2000range you wouldnt buy anything other than VAG as the rest were a bit poor) but when the new regs came in they just havent been able to make the two work in conjunction.

this is what a VAG specialist told me - the DPF was added on to the PD engine and it just doesn't work...

This is making me feel better about only getting 30 mpg from my petrol FR - I wanted diesel but the DPF issues I had with my last car (Alfa 159) put me off...

where do I go from here?
I would hope they are taking it for extended test drives and they should be checking the readings of the 3 temp sensors as these will also stop regen if reading incorectly.there have also been 2-3 software updates to improve regen, hopefully they have checked the software version.
If it has gone in to limp with them using it that would suggest a underlying issue.
I have also had a couple of leons that were blocking the particle filter due to the incorrect oil(not long life)
Just because there is no specific fault stored does not mean there is no problem although i would say i have also had customers that had repeat dpf issues that i ran the car for a week (500miles) with no issues and several regenerations (you can check to see if the vehicle has regenerated automatically).
But all avenues were exhausted before we were happy to say the car was fault free.
hope you have some success with them.

Alzak, sounds like your sensor is working if it's trying to regen. How often are you seeing the DPF light coming up on the dash? Does it clear after a 10-15 minute run on the motorway?

I do around 500 motorway miles a week in mine and still get the regeneration happening which makes the car feel like complete crap, no power below 2.5k revs then extremely jerky after that. Never see a warning light though.

Guess I wouldn't since the 2.0 Hdi in my peugeot is from 2000 still does approx. 140 bhp (tuned) without going fault for even once for over 140.000 miles. Thing is the French did manage to produce good diesels in the past but electronics aren't their strongest point. Nowadays you can still find french diesels in all kinds of cars but instead of more reliable than the 2.0 the newer 1.6 is a pain in the ......

I was planning to get a Leon FR TDi CR in around 6 months but this thread has put me off a bit. :-(

I'm I correct in thinking the DPF issues are mainly with the PD engines?

Has anyone with a CR engine had any problems?

My drive to work is approx 20 miles and is a mixture of A Roads and Motorway (around 10 mins on Motorway).

Dev, I have the same problem but I don't think it's DPF related. My DPF is now clean and I still have that fault. I am currently checking a few things out and will let you know once I solve it.
