You need to earth it. Run a bit of cable from pin 14 and loop it round the screw where the rubber bump stop screws on

so what does this mod allow you to do exactly?? you can just plug your ipod into the end of the auxiliary cable and it plays out perfect quality??
How did you know you had to earth it? I just got the cable, no fitting instructions or anything. I was gutted as I'd just paid seat to get my radio code and thought I'd wasted my money getting it decoded when id have to go buy myself a new head unit to use my ipod!
Are the pins numbered on the back of the unit? Im not brilliant with electrical things!
I found a guinea pig luckily. I'm usless with electronics too

Can you do the same thing but with a usb wire?
Cos, i'm glad someone on this forum has enough knowledge on how the search feature works! I would have done it myself, but was just waiting to see how long it would take the rest
does the alana radio need a mounting bracket to slot it in to the dash?
my ibiza came with a sony unit in it but it has a dodgy cd player so after seeing that you can create an aux for the alana im going back to standard. so juat wondering does the alana unit need a mounting bracket or is this just for aftermarket headunits?
Mine didn't come with the green wire coming from pin 13. Did everybody else's?
you mean pin 14?? its not supposed to come with that wire. you have to earth it yourself
