Hi guys

In need of some help!

Im about to buy a flip key of ebay and have been following this guide

Does anybody know or have a vagcom guide on how to programme the key to the immobiliser so the ignition doesnt cut out, when i brought the car i never had the red plastic peice you need when gaining a new key so i dont know the secret code.

Is this required to pair up to the immobiliser when using vagcom?

Thanks!

Yes without the secret code you are screwed and will need to go to the dealers ;-( unless you use something like vag commander 1.4 to try and retrieve it from the ECU, the cloned version of the software is well flaky btw.

Just take the immo chip from your spare manual key if u have one.

Still unsure on the key project...

I havnt got a spare at all so wanted to buy a flip key and keep my current as a spare.

Do i need the secret code then when programming the new key with vagcom?

I still cant find any guides on using vagcom to program the key, just need some people that have gone down this route to clarify.

Thanks again!

i tried to do this but once a chip is coded it cant be coded again so you would have to buy a new so i just took chip out of my spare key

some may say lala land....
i got the stealer to code and was £20 i think
they couldn't though do the remote locking as i had done the remove lock barrel mod, as such i have a half working key.
i asked if they can do another way and it was a no.
not su, so i could you do the barrel swap, so i could so not done it. program so not done it.

so: only do this if you have access to drivers side key lock still.

I think the moral to that story is keep your barrel so that you can just pop it back in to do the central locking

You could always find some one who could lend your the lock.

There's is other ways to program the remote though, I'll see if I find them on my browse and I'll post the info to you. :D

You Recode the remote in via vag com or vas none of this pissing about with door locks is required.

I know so because I've coded many keys in to both the immo and convenience unit and did exactly as oldman has described on my old Leon which was de-locked.

what year?

most use the ID48

then later cars use the CAN Bus type chips.

Ive just done the similar

- bought a 2 button seat altea remote fob from ebay. £10
- had a new key blade cut from a photo £10
- new transponder ID48 £5

Need to program the transponder in key with car, so have ordered a VW/seat/skoda/audi tool which can adjust dash, retrieve code and program new keys and some more.

If you were in the north east, id offer to program your blank transponder to your car.

vag com will only do it IF YOU HAVE THE CODE.

i think theres a program called vag tacho that can extract the code from the car.

Ive sourced a device from a local diagnostics company, i get it tomorrow, so if it works ok ill let you know.

the tool ive got is SUPER VAG K+CAN V.4.8.1

it can change dash miles, retrieve the pin code needed to program keys, air bag reset, diagnostics etc.

I had difficulty using it to program 2 keys. it seemed to over write one with the other, but somehow managed it. Both keys now working fine.

Anyone in the north east who needs help with this, contact me.

Tool cost abit, so if i can help others for a small cost or sell it on via ebay then im quids in.

My used remote key cost £10 ebay, £10 key blade cut, £5 for blank transponder and then programming.
