de-wipered the rear:

looks loads cleaner, although the car itself is filthy

also, had a new headunit, sony GT440u with a seperate dial for gain contol on the amp:

and a JL Audio sub (WX12) and mated amp:

it was fitted by mint car enhancements in nottingham - really good company, the people there are sound and the garage is amazing, when i was there they had two TVRs having the roofs re-trimmed, an AMG having window tints, a range rover sport being vinyl wrapped in satin white and an orange audi R8 having the roof vinyl wrapped black

i really recommend this sub too its really good, proper rich and deep

so as far as my progress goes...

So this weekend was springfest, i went down with Adam Kelly and a few boys from another club, it was quite a good weekend, i got plent of pictures of the car:

the LED sidelights i had fitted started flickering so i took them out and replaced them with the standard ones

I'd stripped the rear out ready for the dragstrip

there are a few more pictures of the cupra on the strip somewhere, but i'm not sure where they went, i managed to get something like 15.3 seconds as my best time though

up until this happened:

i basically lost drive to all 6 gears, each time i put the clutch in the car would made a very loud knocking noise, i could pull the clutch out in any gear and the engine would also continue to idle fine, not stall or anything, i originally thought i'd ****ed my clutch, but it could also be my driveshafts or diff...

i then had to be towed off the track

i was then towed again, out of santa pod up to the main gate to be recovered by the AA

and after waiting for 2 hours for the AA a van finally arrived

and the driver said he couldn't tow me, and gave me this

"vehicle to low to vrs" - which meant i had to wait for another three hours for a flatbed
then, one eventually arrived

i finally got home at 9:40, having broken down on the strip at 2:30

yep, its terrible mate...
it was a good day though (apart from blowing it on the strip haha)


Adam Kelly came over tonight and had the wheel off, the driveshaft on the drivers side is completly ****ed, this is what fell out when we removed it

i'm looking at ordering a replacement tomorrow, just getting a price on it
and i'm just going to have to hope that my diff, clutch and box are fine...

Sorry to hear about the car mate i seen it! sounded awful. I thought it was gearbox or clutch got lucky if its only driveshaft.

yeah mate it was a good day

the best times i got were:

Reaction: 0.3545 seconds
60 ft: 2.3998 seconds
330 ft: 6.5190 seconds
1/8 mile time: 9.9490 seconds
1/8 mile speed: 71.41mph
1/4 mile time: 15.3854 seconds
1/4 mile speed: 90.51mph

most of my 1/4 mile times were high 15s, around 15.7/15.8
and most of my speeds were between 87 and 89

so far thats as much as we've found,

i've ordered a replacement today, its cost me £226.50
i'll try and get that on tomorrow, and hopefully it'll be fine

yeah mate thats it, i've only ordered the longer one (drivers side) but from the underside of the car it looks like thats all thats rotating out of what it should, the driveshafts coming from TPS in derby, from their website it looks like they're a VAG specialist, but bloody hell those ones are like half the price for two...

yeah it selects gear fine, when i was towed off i managed to limp it about 100 meters away from the strip entrance towards the exit but then it stopped pulling all together, i think i was using what was left of the driveshaft before it fully gave out


EDIT: Phoned the guy up about the driveshafts, they're from a mk3 and wont fit mine
