There the Exeo is based on the Audi A4 I was actually wondering what modifications and/or original Audi parts have been added to the car by the Exeo owners here.


Here's my list of modifications so far:


1. LED interior lighting

Bought this recently from BlueCars.net in France. The bulbs for the reading light above the rear seat were of the wrong type but BlueCars sent me new ones.​

2. Ambient LED light front

Part needed: 8E0919063A (GBP 11,00)

Tools needed: Torx screwdriver no. 15 and a drill.

3. Grocery bag hooks in trunk

Parts needed for 1 hook:
1x Hook : 6Y5867615
2x Screw: N10656902
2x Nut: N90156103

Tools needed: Torx screwdriver no. 25

You can install 2 hooks in the trunk. These hooks have a spring so they fold up when there's no weight on them.

6. Rubber gasket around engine compartment under bonnet

Part no.: 8E0823731B (GBP 15,00)

This rubber seal will prevent dust/sand entering the engine compartment.​

7. Chrome Fog Light Trims

Right: 8T08531022ZZ

Price: less than GBP 10,00 each.

I have the under bonnet plastics ordered, the bag hooks also. I have a front splitter to fit too.

For the ambient light you have to mount the led unit (appr. £15,-) and drill the two holes

Do we know why we cannot just upgrade the gas struts 620Nm to 650Nm ?? or is the hinge configuration totally different ? - the clubseatexeo forum is not clear on this

The nuts are some kind of clips. In the trunk you'll find for each hook 2 square holes with a round hole next to it. Just slide the clip into the square hole that way the hole in the clip will be over the round hole.

Don't know. I think the strength of the struts is different which will affect the speed of opening. I haven't ordered the struts, will first try without them.
On a german forum I read about experimenting with a different springs inside the struts.

Received the goodies this afternoon. Hinges need to be painted.

The CDROM contain a pdf manual with pictures in french.

The resistors can be placed in parallel with the LED bulbs in case of a small leak current.

The bulbs in the package for above the back seat are of the type T4W (bayonet). Unfortunately my Exeo had so called festoon (C5W) bulbs with a length of appr. 37mm. The bulbs were exchanged by BlueCars for the correct ones.

Note: the C5W LED bulbs have a positive and negative side. So if the bulbs don't work you have to turn around.

The LEDs give a bright white light that seems to spread much better. The lighting of the interior is better than with the original bulbs.

Removing of some lamps can be hard, like the one in the glove box. Don't use sharp tools like screwdrivers because these can damage the clothing of the interior.
I kept the original bulbs as spare.

Interesting to read about your LED lights, but you say that's just the interior? Have you sucessfully replaced the DRL's with LED's? I managed to replace the sidelights with some better looking LED's, but I've yet to fiddle with the DRL's I bought - I need some resistors.

Other modifications of mine include retro fitting BOSE and an Audi Navigation Plus headunit along with a Dension ipod controller. Oh, and I replaced the front indicator bulbs with some clear/bluish ones, which look much better than the yellow bulbs. I need to look into doing the same at the sides/back.

The interior lights are not controlled by the CANbus system like the exterior lights.
On a dutch Audi A4 B7 forum I've read that they already had problems replacing the rear license plate lights by LEDs because of the ECU used in the B7 model.
But I've seen LEDs for it on the website of BlueCars though they're pretty expensive (GBP 33,00).

I have some plans for the exterior lights:

- side markers: I don't like the chrome ones, I want black smoke ones:

- increase the power of the bixenon headlamps; currently the power seems to be set to 70% of max. power (need VAGcom for this).
- replace bixenon bulbs for 6000K ones.
- and also LEDs for DRL and maybe fog lights.​

Actually I would like to have the lights (red and white) in the door panels and feet areas also.

It's also possible to have the 5 ventilator knobs illuminated. Some glue an LED behind the knobs, someone else replaced the units by RS4 cabrio types.

I order the original Audi parts from Autohaus Plaschka in Germany through the internet.

The rubber gasket was ordered first week of February and I paid EUR 19,00 (GBP 16,00). Current price is EUR 17,00 (GBP 14,00).

Just fitted the rear anti roll bar 22mm dia and the cornering has greatly improved. Looking at a straight through exhaust [DPF back] next but will explore a "Bass reflex resonator" design that is fitted to some Saab and Jaguar diesel cars - which gets rid of the tractor sound. So, instead of attenuating select frequencies with mufflers and resonators like we normally would, we built two large bass reflex enclosures, that actually amplify the exhaust sound to provide the rich and gratifying sound of a really large and powerful diesel engine. As a note to the curious, the bass reflex ports are vented concentrically around the main exhaust pipes into the end pipes, so if you look carefully from behind, you can look straight into the bass reflex chambers" this stops/masks it sounding like a tractor!! Sadly there are no pics. ................."
