Apologies if these questions have been asked/answered before, and at the risk of sounding a bit thick...

1. Can you choose to pair with either the 6050 or factory BT once the HU's installed, or is the factory BT disabled (I've read the BT performance on the 6050 is variable, due to poor microphone..?)

2. Do the speech command buttons and the car's built-in phonebook still work...presumably only if you've paired with the factory BT..?

3. Does the MFD show any media info, track numbers, etc..?...I've seen photos on a VW forum showing an arrow with the direction in the top left corner, is this taken from the 6050's sat nav..?

4. Has anybody connected the rearview camera or TV aerial...are they worth bothering with..?

Sorry to keep asking questions but I'm a gnat's whisker away from ordering one, and want to make sure it's the right unit for me...

This the reply I had back from them:-

Hello,
1) We ever sold this item for 2009 Seat Leon, it can work on the car perfectly. Please buy the suitable frame from your local Seat car dealer.
2) Yes, the maps is Europe maps.
3) This item is located in UK, but we did not have stocks on camera in UK yet, if you want camera, we can only send it from China, is it ok for you?
Best regards.

I dont think you will get the answer you are after unless someone has fitted one to their car. It should work with the FL but some things might not work 100% but thats just my thoughts. At that price though it sound a cracking deal.

tardis,
think that you'll have a problem with a/c control. if you have a FC leon then you have on your stock radio also the A/C temperature and information.
This device doesn't support this. The steering wheel works but this is all the CAN support you can expect.
I have similar device

http://www.audiosources.net/viewproduct.asp?id=1027

had some problems with it but now it's ok

got some information from the seller that now they have new version like this,

http://www.audiosources.net/viewproduct.asp?id=1026

and this device supports the A/C control and factory parking sensors for models 2010-2011.

I bought my for 400$ with Double DVBT (works up to 250km/h, tested) and they offered me the new model for the same price

no, it doesn't effect the device if you don't have factory parking system.
on the old model of the device, always when you put in reverse it shows the OPS screen and maybe you will think that you have parking sensors.
it's a bit annoying, it stops the music, shows the screen that doesn't mean anything to me, grrr

on the new model, you can turn on/off this system. so if you have parking sensors turn it on, if you don't leave it off an that's that

Me too. (Both Sunday morning head and Sat Nav thing...) Would also like the answer to the above from rourkek4.

In my case I have a 07 Stylance, with no mp3, bluetooth or large MFD in the instrument cluster. I do have steering wheel controls though. I am interested in these sets (plenty on ebay at the mo and completely confused with all the different acronyms in the descriptions). To add to my confusion, I see that original MFD3s are now around the £600 mark, and these lookalikes are in the £300-£400 range. However, with no original bluetooth or mp3 I'm wondering if this is actually more useful to me than the OEM unit?
And so many sellers on ebay and the thread here... Where is the place to get one?!!!

Hi again all,

I need some qualified advice here. I have €600 to spend later this year on getting either a secondhand RNS510 from ebay/other source or one of these chinese lookalikes ( I presume they are all more or less the same thing). My requirements are as follows...

I have an April 07 registered Stylance with steering wheel controls for the stereo, but I do not have an mp3 head unit, nor do I have aux in on the console, bluetooth or large MFD in the instrument cluster.
My requirements are as follows; to have FM radio with decent signal quality, as good as the original HU at least; second on the list is mp3 capability; third is a tie between bluetooth (or other hands free) and decent sat nav. 4th on the list is ability to play DVD on the move to keep passengers happy. TV function is not relevant or even wanted. I would prefer to have steering wheel controls function continue.
I've read all the posts here, and got through about 85 pages of that massive thread on the Golf forum and still can't make up my mind. The Chinese jobbie seems to be the biz, but I can't seem to get past the reliability question mark that seems to hang over it. I would also like the Seat screen on startup, but that's not a dealbreaker. The OEM RNS510 does not offer bluetooth out of the box, whereas the chinese one does. Then I found reference to the Zenec version which seems to tick all the boxes bar the price, why is it so expensive? Is it the inspiration for the chinese copies?

So if I buy a VW branded RNS510, can I modify it to offer bluetooth without spending another fortune, and will it give me all I need from above? Also, can it be modified to give the SEAT screen? Are the various Chinese models any different (Waywell, Audiosources, and others are mentioned in those threads...) The ebay sellers don't specify what 'brands' they are selling- or are they all the same? Is there a particular model that is more reliable than others?

Lastly I may very well upgrade to a 2012 Facelift Leon next year, will I be able to move the set into that?
I think there must be some on here who have bought the above various sets and retrofitted as I plan to do. How have you found life with them in your Leon after having them for some time?

Looking forward to some opinons! Cheers,
Roy

And one more thing;

If I get an OEM RNS 510/MFD3, which is best suited to my particular car? I see versions A, B, and C. Will any version work with my steering wheel controls?
Will any version transplant into a 2011MY Leon if I change next year?
Will any version transplant into an Exeo if I go for one of them?

Ok, that's four more things....
Sorry about all the questions. I can only realistically get a set online, and I don't want to spend the money and end up stuck with the wrong one...

Thanks in advance,
Roy

You will need an RNS510 version C for you car to ensure potential compatibility later on. Hard to say about the new Leon without any real details being released but I would expect it to work but cannot be 100% sure but usually VAG have had backwards compatibility.

It will not go into your Exeo as far as I am aware as the Exeo is based on the old A4 and shares its electrics which are also older than your Leon.

Thanks jezyg,

Good to know it won't go into the Exeo, I may not even change next year, but if I do it will be another Leon or an Exeo. I'd defo plump for an OEM RNS510 if it did have bluetooth. Would any version cause the battery drain issue I've read about or is that only relevant to Skodas and Golfs?
(Sorry, more questions...!)

Has anyone installed the ETO system on ebay. I would be very interested to hear if anyone has installed it and how it performs. It looks like an updated version of the waywell unit discussed in the links below.

Ditto, would like to know this. Or if anyone has an Inphase VW replacement unit which is also plug and play apparently?
