15degrees of motion by the front and not the rear will trigger it.

This can be 15degrees of "slip" - or the simple fact that in a corner, the front wheels travel a tighter arc than the rear. The tighter the corner, the more you feel power transfered to the rear on exit.

Rest of the time, FWD mpg :D

I've been looking into buying a LHD 1.8T leon abroad - I can't find one later than a 2002 model - does anyone know if they were discontinued then?
Are you looking for a 4x4 1.8t

they were made from 08/03-04/04 in various power models

However the daddy is the 2.8l (VR6) with 204bhp 4motion which ran from 05/01 - 04/04 in different forms for short runs in those periods 05/01-05/02 and 05/02 - 05/03 and 08/03 - 04/04 depending on the exact model

The 1,8t 4x4 was taken out of production about 2002-2003.
Only fwd after that.

The 2,8 V6 was taken out 2002. (i think...)
(on the scandinavian market..)

Yes - haven't come across one from 08/03-04/04!

No I don't want a V6 with a big heavy lump up front to **** the handling. :D

It's funny to see a post from Pat in the early stages of ownership compared to how far he ended up taking his Cupra.

I'd still love this conversion, money & no object then I would 100% do it. I have thought about buying a 4motion Golf and sticking in my 1.8T but I love my car, the way it looks and I couldn't do it. The other option is to reshell the 4motion with Leon body panel but that's another biggy.

I'm surprised its not been properly done yet to be honest. I think its a shame the Seat marque hasn't got the following of the VW one for example... I was reading about the mk4 VR6 golf that was chopped into the mk1 golf the other week... literally, everything was cut out of the vr, chopped shorter and squeezed into the mk1 golf. Fabricated floor pan, boot pan, wheel arches, bulkhead, subframe, strut towers, the lot. Would be a whole lot less work to RHD convert the leon, or chop them into each other.

To be fair, my mum bought her VW Sharan as an import and paid to have it converted to RHD as it was cheaper than buying one here. The only reason you can tell now is because the blowers on the windscreen clear the LHS of the screen quicker than the RHS!

Maybe different but there was a mk4 r32 getting squeezed into a mk1 that i saw, that would be seriously quick!

Why do you not just buy a 4x4 leon in the first place, it would be much easier

I think your about Six years to late mate. but good thread resurrection though. [B)]

Haha, yeah, woops!

I've noticed on this forum most people seem to be reluctant to try to do things themselves, I also own a mk1 VW Caddy and on the caddy forum hardly anyone buys ready made parts, where as on here peple seem to think if its not made by Forge its not safe lol, i.e. the short shifter!

Having said that, I havn't been using this forum long so maybe I'm wrong...

Your not wrong TBH.
But then there is a distinct lack of manufacturers making pieces for the LCR due to its differences to all other VAG marques.
Also there is a huge membership on here and we have lots of people trying new things and passing on the information.
But still too many sheep on here for sure and too many not passing on the knowledge too
