So around 280bhp then? Have you had a remap yet? I didn't think you had but then, I've nto been paying attention

Really needs the remap to fit in really on the R32, even then its tricky to get the figures out of them...seen a few R32OC dyno days at Awesome and it's rare they make figures like 280bhp without mapping. My mate managed 250bhp with uprated induction, race cats and a non-res milltek. Better than some of the cars with manis and cams, really odd!

I havent. I'm still justiying if £400 is really worth 10-30bhp. I've heard remaps on the R32's make them much more "driveable" and the APS maps seem to make quite a difference, not in power figures but to how it pulls. I'd like to have a map put on before I pay really!

I've heard stories of people with REVO maps getting bang on stock power!!! R32's seem very weird, you either get a good one, that'll make good figures, or others that really dont seem to make much difference even with decent mods! I know mine feels better with the Milltek, intake and panel filter. It has free'd the revs up and does pull better. One of the best mods to be VPower though! After tank and tank of use, it does seem to be making it pull better!

Well guys! Got the Milltek Manifolds fitted by Ed and the team at APS. All I can say is.....WOW! I cannot strongly recommend manifolds enough! From standard, a non res cat back is amazing. Then you get the cats aswell and it makes it much meaner growl. Then you get the manifolds and it makes it a complete package. Before, burble came in at about 2050/2100rpm. And it sounded good all the way up, now burble comes in at the same, but it amplifies and REALLY shouts out at 3000 now. I cannot stres how much of a difference it's made!

Not really done any other mods apart from getting myself a second hand grille and spraying it Satin Black. Looks much better imo!!!

Here's a pic of it at Ultimate Dubs taken by a mate:

And a pic I took of the car after the long drive home:

On the flip side, when I was APS, Ed ran Vagcom on my car to check cam chain tolerances. On block 208 it read -8 and block 209 it read -9. I had the car checked the week later and block 208 read -10 and 209 read -7. So, took the car to Ultimate Dubs but haven't driven it since. I'm not borrowing my dad's 1.2 Corsa. Needless to say - MAJORLY missing the noise and the power. My car is booked in with Ed at APS to get the cam chains replaced as I dont want to risk them snapping. So, 1.2 power until the 29th.

And it was nice to meet Chino at Ultimate Dubs too! :)

No vids of the noise ash? :(

bet it sounds awesome now! Whats next on the list?

No vids as of yet. Once it gets back to full health I'll try :) It is unreal! I bet I could literally set car alarms off with it, it's so loud - but I'd like to think not chavvy loud. How can a V6 roar ever be chavvy? :D

Next on the list is cam chains :( That is going to KILL my bank balance. Not cheap at all. Over £1000 lets put it that way. Then I'll need some new rear discs and pads when I next get some cash, so will be going down the Ferodo DS2500 and CRN disks route again. :D

£1000 quid :O seriously? Thats horrible!

Yeh v6's cant sound chavvy, awesome noise from them

VW want about £1500 to replace cam chain/tensioners etc. :( I thought about sticking some cams in while it was all in bits. But that works out nearly 2.5k. So wont bother with that! lol

Ouch!! How come your having to replace the cam chains, is there actually something wrong with yours? Thought they were meant to be good for life or at the very least well beyond 100k..

Get it to an independant? Confused to see how its so much :O may aswell go the whole hog with cams :p

I'm taking it to APS. They've done them before and replace everything related to the cam chain so know what they're doing. I was gonna ask a techie in work to do it, but he said it was an engine out job and 11.5 hours labour. + parts. APS have found a way of doing it without having to take the engine out. It's about £300 of parts and the rest in labour! :( Basically, VW put a too bigger engine in a too smaller engine bay, there's no room to do anything so loads of labour and lots of pain. :(

I'd LOVE to go the whole hog with cams, but an extra £1300 for cams is a bit steep! For the 10/20bhp gain. I think my hybrid setup on the Ibiza cost about £1500 and that doubled standard power and more than double standard torque! N/A tuning doesn't quite work out as good value for money. If only the R would double it's bhp for £1500

Thats some bad news about the cam chain/tensioner mate sounds pricey although if you can afford to run a V6 these days im sure its not too bad :p

Haha! Cheeky git! Wish I'd have known before I got the manifolds done, I'd have got the neccessities done before the goodies. But dont regret the manifolds by any means. It will mean that my bank balance will be in double figures for a month - but I'd rather get them done than crap my pants every time I drive the car....

They are a common problem on the 3.2 engines. Whether it be on the A3/TT/R32 etc. It's not the chains that go, it's the tensioners. So obviously when the tensioners go, slackens the chain and chain jumps off. There were a faulty batch of SACHS chains. And where SACHS had stamped the logo onto the link of the chain, it made the link weak and that link would break! :ban: It can also be down to oil pressure or something like that. Some R32's gone with the "Long Life" servicing. Which is oil change every 20k. Luckily mine isn't on that, so shouldn't have suffered with the oil pressure problems, relating to the Long Life servicing.

Like I say, my chain tolerances are reading on the limit/just over the tolerance levels. And there is a slight noise coming from the cam chain side of the block, so not gonna risk it! I wanna be able to give the R grief, especially now I've got the best soundtrack ever :D Not potter around everywhere worrying that it's gonna go *ping* anytime. It's expensive, but in the grand scheme of things, isn't that bad.

Such a shame it costs so much! And cams too, 1300 quid is madness, though is there 4 of them in the R's, or just the two? Forgot how expensive bigger cars are to mod. I know what you mean about piece of mind though, I've done the same with mine, just bought everything possible for it that will help it in the long run. Nothing worse than things going wrong, especially with timing gear!

Least you can give it a pasting straight after and not worry :p
