I hear there's a pretty good mod you can do by replacing some parts with those from the R32 DSG intake. frees up a bit more flow to the airbox.

could probably find the parts pretty cheap and then wait ages for someone to get their act together and send them [y]

Haha! It's ok mate - you got there in the end!

Springs are fitted today too! :D I wont go into details of how they're fitted, but they're in now and that's all the matters. Think VW would've cringed

oh dear, sound like you've done a bit of a bodge then :p

if it works then thats all that matters really. (y)

Not a bodge, just the quick way of doing it!

Undo the shock absorber bolt, let the wheel drop down. Literally two of us hanging, literally legs off the floor  pulling the wheel down fair enough to make enough of a gap to get the spring out. Dont think it's the VW way of doing it, but didnt harm anything, was quick and easy. :D

Pikey! :p

Whats the proper way to do it? Unbolt the inside bit of the arm?

Haha! Yeh!

The proper way is probably to undo the shock absorber, remove arb drop link, remove rear drive shaft, remove upper arm, remove lower arm........take the whole rear end apart basically.

Having a RIGHT bitch of a job with my new air intake. Arrived today and i thought it'd be a good idea to fit it tonight, in the dark. Doesnt fit AT ALL. Gutted. :( Now my car is in 100 pieces all over the garage floor. :( Will have another go in the morning.

American Mk4 R32 DSG air intake. All genuine VW fit, just should've got a new lower airbox. I didnt realise you had to buy that aswell though so will be chopping my standard one tomorrow. Will do a really neat job and sealer it all up so it looks professional and tidy :) Dont like bodging.

Thats a bit of a contradictory sentence lol. Sounds like a right pain in the rear really, but should improve air flow a bit :p just googled it and it looks like the PD130/160 pipe all over again!

And about the rear springs.... I'd probably hang off the wheel too now you've said that lol

Got the intake fitted today! :D

You can see where the old one went up to (where the rubber is cut). The standard R32 one is much much smaller.

Inside the airbox:

Outside the air box, all sealed up:

Nice work

Looks like an even bigger difference than PD130 v PD160 pipes for Ibizas! Was it an expensive mod? And whats next on the list? :p

Nope - cost me £40 to my door! Cost about £56 new from VW. This was all brand new, just second hand. Still had all the stickers on it and you could tell it was brand new.

New mod will hopefully be either Milltek Manifolds or both bumpers being painted. Undecided what to do first! Power or tidy up the looks.

I'd go for power :D as much as my bumpers need repainting, I still keep doing the little power mods like pipe replacements and larger rear brakes than I really need lol

Yeh - I keep doing the same! Think all my mods have just been power actually! Apart from the springs!

Manifolds mate has to be :D

Yeh I was thinking the same. Will try to get the bumpers done before the big shows mid summer.
