GlanzaV - Mk1 LCR 210 (Return to new)

Hi all,

Thought I'd start a thread for my Mk1 LCR (AMK 210)

History:
Bought the car last year locally after searching for a good example. I had origanally ben looking for a newer model 225, but all were higher milage or looked a bit shady! This one popped up, one lady owner, 36'00miles from new and stacks of history!

Loads of Receipts for past servicing/work

So cleaned the car up and took some pictures:

The paintwork for an 8 year old car is pretty immaculate! Only a couple of dings near the door handle but hardly noticeable!

The plan is to bring it back to original condition. Plans are as follows:
Exterior:
  • Refurb Brembo's
  • Replace corroded/worn badges
  • Refurb Alloys

Power: Want to keep it looking OEM under the bonnet
  • Black annodised 007p
  • Black Samco TIP
  • Black Silicon Hosing
  • Blueflame Cat-back
  • 200 cell cat + downpipe
  • Remap (potentially custom map)

Decided that I would get the car Dyno'd in it's totally standard form to check how it was running

Made a respectable 221BHP 220lbft for an 8 year old standard car! Bit concerned about the AFR, but need to do some logs on Vagcomm before I go any further.

Cheers Damo! I've got a couple things to tidy up and then I'll be looking for a bit more power... almost a shame as it's so original! The husband of the woman who owned it took it to the dealer/speacialist for everything! Original tyres, wiper blades, mats... He had a lovely B7 RS4 as well so definately knew he was an enthusiast!

Very clean looking car, it's clearly been looked after... the paint looks in amazing condition. You take a good picture too... really like the one you used for your sig. Keep up the good work!

Cheers! Yeah the paint is in great condition for the age! All my other seats have had terrible stone chips (and white undercoat makes it worse!). Yeah I have that pic as my desktop! Need to get some new pics soon!

Looking sweet man! Still not seen you about ayrshire. Red is the best colour

Not seen you either mate! I'm down almost every weekend, but I jump between the Leon and the Ibiza depending on how frugal I'm feeling :D All my previous 3 cars had been black until I got my Ibiza (red) and now the Leon (red) my wife thought they looked identical at first!

Smart looking car mate. Much work refurbing the Brembo's? I need to do mine.

No there's not a lot of "work" involved - really just take your wheels off and mask up! I went overkill masking off the bodywork with newspaper in case the laquer oversprayed. There is a guide here

Nice car, best colour too ;) Just saw you'd got a RR thread on the go, looks like you're on the same track as me re. your AFRs. Don't forget that exhaust lambdas they use on RRs can be inaccurate, VAGCOM will tell you for sure, block 031 for starters.

Good work on those Brembos, must clean mine up but they're only covered in caked-on brake dust so 5mins with a cloth and some Tardis will sort them for now :)

Hi Adrian,

Lovely looking car. It looks like a very fine example. My car is 7 years old now and still drives really well; your's must too!

I look forward to seeing your car progress in the New Year.

James :)

Not much - Got the new badges and centre caps sitting here. Just waiting on some decent weather to fit them. Will post pics on progress when I get round to it.

On a side note - Passed it's MOT again no problems. They did pick up on a worn wishbone bush so will perhaps replace them soon.

Cracking car mate, honestly would be a shame to mod this one as you said its SO original.
Maybe think about it again before jumping into mods
8 Years is a long time OEM.

That's is at the back of my mind! Would like to keep it stock but would also like to mod it (or something else haha!) My ibiza is just a dirty workhorse so no point there. Planning on getting rid of it* next year though so perhaps I'll get something I can mod.

Would like some more power, but don't really need it to be perfectly fair, I usually cruise around at 25mph :gay:

* The ibiza!
