Which Leon is this on?
On the LCR you won't have any issues, not 100% sure the LC will be the same.
Also depends on how well the exhaust system is built/fitted

i fitted h&r front and rear arb to my tdi and wow what a difference it made. well worth it

Does the h+r kit go under or over your drveshaft? Because I'm trying to find a kit that goes under the drive shaft as I'm on coilovers and the eibach kit rubs like a bitch cause it goes over

What a fantastic read, really informative. I've just read it from start to finish.... twice! I will be looking to fit front and rear ARB at some point in the near future and this thread has really opened my eye to combination of different ARB and the associated handling characteristic for each.

I look forward to future updates, once I've purchased some ARB i too will add to the debate!

Do it Doc they really are as good as people say ;)

I'v got a 25mm Neuspeed front and 28mm Neuspeed rear set on the hardest setting, my shocks and springs are standerd but I have a front and rear upper strut brace's,
The ARB's have really reduced understeer, mid corner all it want's to do is turn it tighter and there's been no hint of the back end trying to come out :D
Fast bendy A&B roads and roundabout's are even more fun now:D

That's what i keep hearing, they really do live up to peoples expectation. I plan on getting the handling properly sorted before i do any more performance mods. By the sounds of it, if i put some front / rear ARB and braces on my car i will have my self a very nice chassis.

Hi all, I am now venturing into the world of handling so I have read this whole thread and taken a lot of info in from it but I still have some queries.

From what I understand, for a road car a 23mm/25mm setup is good and from reviews that I have read, will be one that I am happy with however I think that 25/28mm will also suit me well for the times I push the car that bit harder.

I have been looking at various brands of ARB and have come across the Whiteline 24mm ARB, what are peoples thought's on a 23/24mm setup?

I will also be using the RARB with an OE cat-back exhaust so I guess that limits me to a few brands? I assume all RARBs fit well with an aftermarket cat-back system?

Hello, I'm looking to upgrade my 110bhp 2000 Seat Leon TDI AHF (camshaft, FB race520 nozzles, 1749VB turbo, cat off, remap, ATE PowerDisc in the front, ATE regular discs in the back and ATE regular pads on both, FK AK Street coilovers) and stumbled upon this thread which I must say was very helpful. According to ETKA the 2000 version of the Leon came with 21 or 23mm FARB so I'll leave that one be, at least for now, but I have been gathering information on RARB but since I'm also having coilovers installed maybe that will be enough. I find the car to be very unstable, although I'm running 225/45R17 instead of the original 195/65R15, it still feels rather loose at the rear at higher speeds, not to mention the the HUGE understeer when going into turns a bit quicker.

I take your point Danny, but the extensions you mention to the damper bottoms are only there to act as lever arms to transfer the twisting forces to and from the bar that's strapped to the axle beam. In the case of my proposed cheapo simpleo welded alternative then these forces would be transferred by the trailing arms, as the already do into the stock beam!

I have installed the S3 lower strut brace (replaced with home made solid one because of a misfortunate event with a speed bump), a rear upper strut brace (adjustable, not model specific, no drilling required) and have had a home made rear LOWER strut brace and I must say, having both rear braces was the best setup I have ever tried. I only removed it because it was basically an aluminium hollow bar with 2 L shaped pieces of steel to make the connection to the shock mounts and one of the screws broke...haven't re-installed the brace since.

But just to give an example, the day I had both bars fitted, running Michelin Energy tires (about 70% worn) and with 2 other occupants in the car I used am empty roundabout at night to try out the setup and I was able to go round, yanking the wheel to try and make the car slide, at about 70km/h (43mph) and it held on to the road as is it was going straight ahead. I was truly amazed. When my coilovers are fitted I'll maybe install the lower brace again but with steel screws instead of the cars original ones :) until I can go for a real RARB ;)

LCR ARBs...Again.

Sorry people but as my O/S ARB bush has died, I thought I may as well upgrade the whole FARB as I planned to do the rear anyway and the subframe needs to be dropped either way as far as I know.

I see that Eibach do a 22/25mm kit for the LCR for just shy of £250 which I think is a good price however I don't know if they are adjustable or if they are any good.

On the other hand I have a second option of a Whiteine 24mm RARB and R32 23mm FARB for around the £270 mark for the package.

http://www.dpmperformance.co.uk/whi...i-19tdi-cupra-19tdi-fr-19tdi-1199-p-3988.html

Which setup would you go for?

Neuspeed is the next obvious choice but at £370ish for F&R ARBs (22/25mm) it's quite costly, still heafty at £310 for the package if I used an R32 FARB instead with Neuspeed rear.

As a side question, does anyone know if the Whiteline or Eibach RARB will fit with the OE LCR Cat-Back exhaust?

I went for the MK4 golf front arb, from memory its 23mm and just over £100 for all the parts. That coupled with the neuspeed 25mm on the rear and full polybush kit made the handling superb combined with a Weitec Ultra GT springs and shocks kit.

Golf one is much cheaper than aftermarket ones. Part numbers are in my readers ride thread somewhere I think. Ill see if i can find them

1J0411305AF - the R32 ARB (called "stabilizer")
1J0411336D - "Clip" (x2)
1J0411314T - "Rubber Mnt" (x2)
N10101603 - "Bolt" (x2)

There are the part numbers for it. Got a garage to fit it for me and as far as i know they had no problems!

I've got the R32 front one in the loft waiting for the car to stop breaking down and costing money long enough to be able to afford to fit it. I was going to go with the Whiteline rear one too, it's almost £100 cheaper than the likes of Neuspeed and is adjustable so I reckoned on it's stiffest setting it would be near enough as good as the Neuspeed to make the extra £100 not worth going for.

Having asked around nobody has a bad word to say about the Whiteline ARB. I got the Neuspeed one as I had basically already made my mind up and was sick of searching through threads trying to gauge what was the best setting:D

Thanks for the replies people. The drawback with the R32 ARB is that it'll come with rubber bushes which will perish again in a couple of winters no doubt at this rate so I'd have to add in some Powerflex bushes which are £30 bringing the total up to £300 odd.

The Eibach kit comes with polybushes but does the fact that it's not adjustable make it a little rubbish?

I have the White line rear set on the hardest and nuespeed 25mm front the front arb was 186 quid delivered and I paid 120 for my whiteline arb :)they make the car handle so much better , I wouldn't go with the eibach as I hear they have problems with low cars like yours
