Mk3 Ibiza Cupra Hybrid Fast road/track car (21/05/12 - NEW BRAKE LINES + NEW CAR!!)

main lambda looks like its goosed..
maf also if low sensor signal..
do you have a wideband afr gauge? i would reccommend one is added so you can keep an eye on fueling.. you dont want it running lean

Aye I'm going to try and get a used one just to see if it is. MAF has been changed just have to try and get a warranty claim sorted for it as SEAT in Glasgow are being very awkward about it. Supposedly they said the one I had on (the faulty one) that I had bought under a year ago was made in 2004..! So Aberdeen SEAT sold me a very old MAF... And Glasgow aren't willing to replace it!! They couldn't even find the fault as they didn't take it about 3000rpm which is when it occurs really. Aberdeen are willing to change it if they find the fault but it's a case of when I'm next back up there.

I have been looking at AFR gauges but never bit the bullet. I will have to consider one again, any you would recommend?

Well that's another knockhill trackday in the bag! :) Was a good night that Willie was also attending (unfortunately was behind him that often!)

Preparing the car was interesting! I bought new brakes (Cupra R Brembos) so I was fitting them on Wednesday, but firstly I realised that the braided hoses were far too short that I was sold. So to get them on I had to bleed them not mounted, the correct way up, then mount them on the car upside down... Not ideal but needs must! Also the driver side hose (the hard line bit) is stripped so I couldn't get that off so I have a braided hose on one side and a standard hose on the other... Again not ideal but needs must!
And not looking forward to having to change all the hose back to the master cylinder...
Then I realised the mounting bolts were too long so I attempted to cut them that night on the side of the road but it was a hassle to say the least... So got up early on Thursday and got a Lexus garage that I used before for the same thing to cut them down for me (very nice of them!)

So they were on! But there was still the misfire that was occuring which I believed to be the lambda sensor which hadn't arrived yet. But it did thankfully at 2pm on Thursday (trackday at 6!!) so got that changed but the misfire was still there...

Anyway decided to go anyway so went along to Gerrard at RD tyres in Glasgow to get all my tyres swapped round onto my new wheels (Pictures to follow!)

Back onto the trackday! Misfire was there throughout (better and worse at stages...) until 15mins before the end when I decided to change out all the coilpacks and low and behold it fixed it! Well, I had put a dodgy one in which totally blew on me so I was sounding like the scoobies. So had to come back in, and tried to get out again before the end but I was too late.

Anyway enough talking! Photos!! Spot the fanny at the start!

- I love this one!!

From these photos I was very surprised I was cocking a wheel round the hairpin (no kerb to kick it up), but all the same the roll you can see is getting worse with my confidence in the dry! I suppose it didn't help that I had my rather large mate in the passenger seat!

I have bought roll bars off of IbizaAlex for the front and back, I am also going to look at stiffer suspension. Any advice as I don't like coilovers!

Next trackday will have hybrid on, roll bar and brakes fitted properly with better pads!!

Did it pop up during the session or did you forget to push it down? Ive had mine pop up like that a few times before on track.

Looking good, though a lucky escape with the bonnet! You'll have fun with those brake lines too, I had to replace both of mine on the fronts where they were seized on the ends, not fun.

You'll definitely benefit from the ARBs by the looks of those pics, they make a massive difference. Why aren't you keen on coilies?

You've got a few options with the wideband but I'd definitely get it sorted where you're out on track so much. I run the Zeitronix ZT-2 kit (http://www.zeitronix.com/Products/zt2/zt2.htm) with a VEI gauge but this means you have to program the gauge to translate the signal it gets from the controller.

You could run the VEMS which offers EGT and wideband in one gauge with a built in controller so in theory more accurate readings too. Bill sells these IIRC. There's also the AEM kit though it looks a bit tacky imo

I had bought cheap crap coilies before for my 1.6 and hated them and has put me off them. I know the more money you spend on them the better you get, but I would much rather have adjustable shocks like I had on the 205. I will have to look more into it after my exams.

I have been looking at the AEM set-up. Can get it for ~£130 posted over from america which I thought was decent so I will probably just go for that. I think it looks cool with the optimal lights etc.

It will be don't worry. Deadline is getting it done before the June national meet as I have a track day soon after that. So plans are to:

- Fit hybrid turbo
- Fit front and rear ARBs
- Get proper braided lines for the Brembos and give it a proper bleed with some Ferodo DS2500s
- Sort the front bumper and also some other cosmetic mods will hopefully be done for the national meet ;)

Oops, wasn't meaning to offend :p Just not my cup of tea, though I've not seen one in the flesh to be fair

My VEI gauge also has bar graph functionality so you can see current vs peak AFR:

Definitely a mod worth doing and often overlooked by many it seems

Get that tubby fitted! :)

Lol. No offence taken dont worry. :D

It is a lot nicer, plus has data logging capability like the Innovate ones which is why i went with it. So far so good its been flawless.

Right the next update!

Basically I have been working my arse off the last week, till 2am most nights, trying to get my car ready for the meet on Sunday. Everything (mostly) is fitted. Hybrid wise anyway.

Fitted the hybrid turbo, injectors, new 3" MAF with filter, 4bar FPR, new ecu, front ARB. Also has to fit new CV boots for its MOT. Doesn't sound like alot now but it took a bit of time... And alot of travelling everywhere to get bits.
I also was 2 bolts away from taking off the gearbox and fitting one with a diff but it turns out I need to replace the diff bolts with ARP ones so that went back on.

BUT now the car is running like a bag of s**t..! It is leaking badly from the manifold area. Not sure weather this is turbo-manifold or manifold-block. Also it was cutting all power when any amount of load was put on the car. But when getting to where it was going to get MOT'd I noticed a boost pipe was hanging off so I am really hoping that it is a simple fix.
I have honestly had enough of the car and have given it to someone I know to see what he can do. If nothing I will take it back and change the manifold gaskets, check everything over AGAIN and take it from there.

I probably won't update on the result until after Sunday but thought I would update till now.
