Apologies, being a boy racer, ICE and creature comforts are always a bit of a mystery to me. :D

I need to look to the Bammer's entertainment systems and I would welcome some input.

  • The standard radio is adequate, but the volume isn't speed related like on my Leon.
  • The Bammer has radio controls on the steering wheel.
  • I have an android phone with my music on. I like the way in my Ibiza that I can play the music through the bluetooth connection to the aftermarket head unit.
  • I do need a handsfree phone setup in the Bammer.
  • The Bammer didn't come with the optional roof-mounted Rosen DVD system. I am interested in fitting an aftermarket system - I see you can get them with a 10.4" screen and IR headphones. I could get the 3-5 rear passengers off to sleep on long journeys by playing them Empi5 track videos. :D

I don't want to spend a fortune (interferes with the Leon budget) but I'd like to come up with a reasonable system. I'm not good at thinking outside the box on this sort of thing and I don't know what's available on the market. :)

Yes, you can run a standard DIN size head unit DVD player and run a couple of monitors in the rear hanging over the front seats

Very true, Dave.

What about just a couple of portable DVD players on the back of the front seats? Just trying to think of a cheaper way than retro fitting a dedicated flip down DVD system.

I'd thought about that - there are drop down tables on the rear of the front seats - but it needs to cater for 3 in middle row and 2 in back row....

you can buy straight replacement headrests that have built in screens which you could then hook up to either a flip down monitor or a dvd ,looks tidier but will be more expensive

Don't know if your still looking DPJ, but it seems to me it would make sense to have the dvd system and HU as separate systems. The screens can get direct feed from the dvd player and you can just filter the sound on the hu to the front speakers only.

Although I suppose if you are installing a new hu anyway then maybe it wouldn't make any difference.

I always end up looking at car audio security first, although their search is rubbish. Other thing I do is to go to a local specialist and get some advice from there first, then go online.
