rusted arches, technique for restoration?

anbody want to enlighten me to the best method for repairing them to near mint condition? im unsure about what to do exactly i.e fibreglass edges? :shrug:

Wire brush back until you have bare shiny metal then treat with kurust or similar to stop the rust spreading. After that you need to asess how rotten they are and your game plan goes from there. To do it properly if you have rust holes you would cut back the rust until good metal and then weld in patches, then a light skim of filler over the top. If no holes then just a light skim of filler. Then primer then blend in the paint.

thanks m1ke. then stick mk3 cupra wheel arches on to cover up the mess i made of it? :)

how long wud it take to do?

wat if i keep taking rusted bits off till the wheel arch is almost gone? would i have to weld something on to whats left?

ill try bodging first and covering with arches. wats kurust? is it like that black anti rust spray?

so if i wanted to fit extra arches in the future or when i sort the original arches out, i would ideally stip the paint upto the line where the wheel arches will be?

wat about the front wings? wud it probably just be easier to replace them both?

but it passed mot in sept with no advisories............must of been a harsh winter.
